I don’t think this counts as Cornell, but it’s very close, just on the other side of the 407. Was lurking around this area by the WalMart on Donald Cousens Pkwy, south of 407, and remember in 2021 driving here thinking, “god this is in the middle of nowhere”. My perspective has changed and honestly, building townhomes near a WalMart and adding a Dollar Tree and a few little stores actually seems like not a bad idea.
Anyways, I’m doing an ariel view around the subdivision, and notice what I thought looked like very narrow townhomes, turns out to be another “new urbanist” development with ground floor retail on Copper Creek Drive (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Haphoto+Studio/@43.8710348,-79.2198467,3a,75y,17.51h,84.27t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1stUCkMyQSKYLoDiGVwNx9Dg!2e0!6shttps://streetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com/v1/thumbnail?cb_client=maps_sv.tactile&w=900&h=600&pitch=5.727055580153717&panoid=tUCkMyQSKYLoDiGVwNx9Dg&yaw=17.510577890403766!7i16384!8i8192!4m17!1m8!3m7!1s0x89d4d69dba12a28d:0x29706a5668cdea5a!2sCornell+Crescent,+Markham,+ON!3b1!8m2!3d43.8455636!4d-79.2886728!16s/g/1trpm5ny!3m7!1s0x882b33d69d6a2505:0xdecdbe73efa2786b!8m2!3d43.87082!4d-79.22144!9m1!1b1!16s/g/11f77vy3xx?hl=en-ca&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDgxMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw==).
Of course, it likely suffers from what Cornell suffers from, basically being pretty much in the “middle of nowhere”, off a highway. As a matter of fact, there’s already a tea shop that permanently closed (https://www.google.com/maps/place/Haphoto+Studio/@43.8710348,-79.2198467,3a,75y,17.51h,84.27t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1stUCkMyQSKYLoDiGVwNx9Dg!2e0!6shttps://streetviewpixels-pa.googleapis.com/v1/thumbnail?cb_client=maps_sv.tactile&w=900&h=600&pitch=5.727055580153717&panoid=tUCkMyQSKYLoDiGVwNx9Dg&yaw=17.510577890403766!7i16384!8i8192!4m17!1m8!3m7!1s0x89d4d69dba12a28d:0x29706a5668cdea5a!2sCornell+Crescent,+Markham,+ON!3b1!8m2!3d43.8455636!4d-79.2886728!16s/g/1trpm5ny!3m7!1s0x882b33d69d6a2505:0xdecdbe73efa2786b!8m2!3d43.87082!4d-79.22144!9m1!1b1!16s/g/11f77vy3xx?hl=en-ca&entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDgxMi4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw==).
Having said that, this development seems to be more “central” than Cornell, with 2 plazas that are like a 5 minute walk from each end of the development, on a street with a non-protected but buffered bike lane. Google Map imagery here is as recent as July 2021, but it seems like 2 coffee shops, a convenience store, a donut place, and a few little stores like seen in Cornell have opened since. Looks like there is also a bus line running on Copper Creek Drive (though, with 30 minute headway schedules) (https://tripplanner.yrt.ca/#/app/nextdepartures/routeheadway/full/014/WESTBOUND/YRT/)
A smaller mixed use development just north of Copper Creek Drive.
Relative to the 407, subdivision to the south, and the 2 plazas
