I'm surprised movie rental stores have lasted this long! i rented dvds back in the day because they were so expensive to buy.
I'm young and still prefer renting DVD's over Netflix or Torrents. I find they have much more selection and I always leave with a couple of movies that I wouldn't find on Netflix. There's always a lot of young people browsing, so I am assuming the generation that has cut cable is what is keeping them alive. With Blockbuster gone and Rogers slowly disappearing, I think they have their own little niche market that can potentially keep them in business for quite some time.
It's quite out of the way for me, yet I still visit and rent from them. I used to use Mr. Movie on Mutual Street but it closed down several years ago
7 & 24 has much better selection though!
...and BluRay porn! (somebody had to say it).I haven't been to 7 & 24 in years, but I seem to recall they had a strong selection of LGBT movies (try browsing for LGBT movies on iTunes - you can't), which may help explain their longevity. Also doesn't hurt that so many of their competitors have closed.
7-24 Video is open for business at it's new location, 584 Church @ Gloucester.
The Churchmouse and Firkin was closed today (4 FEB 2014) as I walked by it (5.45pm). Is something up?
