Caledon-Vaughan GO Rail Line

I doubt they would build a large surface lot like that still for a CIty of Toronto station. The City hates surface parking at their GO Stations - it was a big thing for all the Smart Track stations to not have any commuter parking, even for the ones where it arguably makes sense like Finch.

And yet, Etobicoke West, Milliken, Rouge Hill, Guildwood, Eglinton, Scarborough, Mimico and Agincourt all exist.....

It doesn't matter if the City likes it or not. GO knows its core customer and what they want.

Those aren't new stations though.
And yet, most of them have had expansions in the past several years.

Hell, the TTC itself has built a number of large parking lots on the TYSSE. Why would it therefore not be possible for GO to do it at a station that is a similar distance from downtown?

Those TTC stations were designed and approved in like 2006. A lot has changed since then, including Toronto’s explicit input on all the new planned GO stations in Toronto from Smart Track and GO expansion to have 0 new commuter parking.

I mean, it may happen especially since it would go in a hydro corridor, but im doubtful.

We'll see if this is for GO Bolton tomorrow:

How about they actually build the Niagara and Bowmanville extensions first? Confederation GO, originally supposed to be opened in 2019, has yet to start construction almost 2 years after entering "procurement"..

I mean how do you issue a construction tender in April of 2020 and say absolutely nothing about it by April of 2022 without construction starting..

Bowmanville is the same thing, 5 years after announcing it and it's still barely more than a couple of napkin drawings of the approximate route, at least as far as what is publicly available..

The rate these extensions are moving, Bolton will be lucky to open by 2040.

Any chance they are being held up by GO Expansion procurement?
From my understanding they are separate projects and would be procured separately.

In the case of the Hamilton / Niagara expansion, it actually pre-dates GO Expansion and has been sitting in the hopper for years, particularly the Hamilton parts which were originally funded about a decade ago and have slowly moved through procurement (very, very, very slowly).

We'll see if this is for GO Bolton tomorrow:

Not Bolton, its 413 related.

It was the GGH 2051 Transport Plan. Bolton GO service mentioned on Page 21. A business case is moving forward.

“MTO also recognizes that there are other transit concepts and initiatives across the region that are not shown on Map 5. These initiatives may include, for example, new passenger rail services to Bolton and Cambridge. MTO will continue to work with municipalities and Metrolinx to review these initiatives and other future transit needs throughout the region.”

Right, but this announcement was as related to the Bolton project as it is to any other project mentioned in the plan. So not Bolton-specific which was what some were speculating.
