I didn't see a dedicated thread for Burlington Transit, so I'll make one here as a logical spot to park news on said agency.

Of note, schedule changes for November go into effect tomorrow, November 3rd.

Burlington will shift 2 routes, 11 and 25 to every 15M service in rush hours (6-9am, 3-6pm), from the current 30M

With this change, Burlington will now have six routes that run service every 15M or better in the peak. ( I count 5, but their page says 6)

Service Frequency - All routes, Eff. November 3rd, 2024, below:

While service remains holy inadequate in large parts of the City, I definitely see real progress here.

I think getting mid-day service to 15M for 2 more routes, both weekday and weekend should be a priority, after which they need to focus on span-of-service. Notice how many routes lack any weekend evening service.

Went digging in Burlington's proposed 2025 budget, it includes funding for 9 net new transit operators.

That should be sufficient to improve service on multiple routes.

One of the biggest issues with BT from my time living there was the ungodly number of stops and terrible stop spacing. BT should do a review to determine the least used stops in the city and try to remove a few to speed up the bus to make it slightly more efficient. As it stands, it's still typically faster to cycle, so unless you have to take the bus because you're a senior or disabled, most people with the ability will cycle, especially with the ability to cycle on the sidewalks.

The few times I took BT while living there, there were multiple times that we stopped at multiple stops in a row to let one person off and the stops were no more than 150m apart.

Burlington is also studying expanding their fares to include more ‘free’ categories - perhaps all categories. Not sure how far down the road this has gotten, or how it would play with any possible integration with OT, but friends tell me that the city has been asking citizens to get involved with the study. BT does not reach out past the 407.

There appear to be 2 routes that operate north of 407 in the western part of Burlington:

Yes. You are correct. I should have been more specific and noted Dundas or Alton. I was being somewhat general in nature. If you are north of that area, the recognized urban developed areas, then cycle, car, or agricultural implement are your modes of choice. It’s too bad that BT does not run a ‘Green Line’ service up to Kilbrife, along Derry to Tremaine, intersect with MT there (or at the cycling centre), and then down Tremaine to Britannia, along. Britannia, to Guelph Line and south along Guelph Line to intersections with other BT lines and then the GO station. And then that sounds like integrated Halton Regional Transit, which we have discussed eke where and would not be such a bad thing. Especially if it linked with GO buses, Trains etc.
