You certainly won’t be disappointed to make the 100-stair climb to Christian Schallert’s “Lego homeâ€. The Barcelona apartment is just 24 square metres (258 square feet), but can be transformed into an infinite number of spaces, depending on his needs.

Formerly a pigeon loft, Schallert says he was inspired to create the living space by the fold-out elements of boats he saw on his childhood vacations, as well as the clean lines of Japanese living. To him, having things tuck into every nook and cranny seemed like an obvious idea.

“At the end of the day, what do you really need for living? You need a nice comfortable mattress and nice clean sheets, running water, shower and a stove to cook something,†he says. “You don't need so much more stuff.â€

The Barcelona-based photographer has dubbed his transformative home an “action apartment†and jokes that building and disassembling his living space all day helps to keep him in shape.

While Schallert champions the benefits of this streamlined living, it’s really only ideal for one, and he’s recently moved out of the apartment after entering into a relationship.

^ ^ ^ seen that one already.

it's nice to post options for small space living.
too bad the compact units that are currently being sold weren't as creative.
