How much is BB worth?
So the city is going to get shafted!for the expropriation? the value will mostly be based off of revenue numbers only.
This is expropriation. the one thing the province absolutely cant do is remove the Cities' right of fair compensation. That is enshrined in the charter. So the city is going to get shafted!
Which part of the claim do you not subscribe too?G&M has an article claiming that the Province can expropriate all of the Toronto Islands but I’m not a subscriber.
Not sure I agree with your comment "t's clear Torontonians don't want this". Most polls show Torontonians have a favourable view of the airport and it is pretty much split down the middle on the expansion question. DF wouldn't be pushing this if it wasn't popular and supported by many voters. The fact that the Federal government isn't putting an immediate stop to this is the most disappointing of all. Sure, defer to the Province who has power over the city but there's no reason to join in on the beating. It's clear Torontonians don't want this and Doug Ford is forcing it over the desires of Torontonians and federal Liberals do have to answer to their Toronto ridings. Carney is popular now but he won't be forever. I can see downtown ridings turning orange next election.
Not entirely sure who you're referring to, but if you mean the mayor and councillors, id argue that they've been completely flaccid and underwhelming on this issue. I'd personally like to see a little vision.I'm amazed at how the left is trying to turn this into a crisis to try to get back into power
Forget about the neighbourhoods we'd be losing everything on the islands. It would be tragic to lose the neighbourhoods on the Islands. They're amazing places.
If the wanton destruction of the Toronto Islands in the name of rampant, unchecked greed doesn't constitute a crisis in your book, I would love to know what does.I'm amazed at how the left is trying to turn this into a crisis to try to get back into power
I'm not sure what the point of the islands would be then, much of the year, with no one living there. In January, probably about popular as Leslie Spit - perhaps less so with it being difficult to get to.It would be tragic to lose the neighbourhoods on the Islands. They're amazing places.
