This is the first time I've actually noticed the red (aviation safety thing) light on Aura's roof. Was this just installed?

I'm assuming regulations require the "aviation safety thing". I'm surprised they weren't forced to have them turned on a long time ago.

They have had work lights on the crane illuminating the top, and I guess they turned on the warning beacon with the crane removal imminent

Guessing here but the red lights are probably legally required for a building of this height (especially given the close proximity to airport). The roofline lights are just there for aesthetics and serve no other purpose. They aren't required by law to be on.

I understand that the red safety lights are reserved mostly for the tallest buildings of their immediate area. I know the previous tallest in the are were ROCP. Now that Aura trumps them in height and is next door, I don't really see the point in ROCP keeping them on. Not sure what happens in that situation.

We don't currently know what the roof of One Bloor will look like. The version we saw original is no longer in the plans apparently.
