Any sailboat owners here?

I'm giving serious thought to taking sailing lessons and then buying a 25' or so sail boat. I'm seeing what appear to be good used boats with cabins (head, galley, berths and table) on the web in Ontario for well under $20,000. I could swing that cost probably. Next will be where to keep the boat. My dad used to belong to the Blvd Club and a few people leave boats there, but I'd be more included to the Ashbridges Bay YC, which per the website runs about $2,500 a year for membership and morrage (sp?) fees.

Since I'll likely never afford a cottage, my thinking is that a sailboat would be a great family weekend getaway, while not blowing the cash on gas like a powerboat.

Are there any sailors here? What do you think?

I took sailing lessons last year... You should get your license and become a member for a year to see if you really want to commit to it, or if your family enjoys it... It's not for everyone... I didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would.
