50 Queens Quay East (Park) | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Me reading this thread, still waiting for the John Street Renewal to start:
Just confining ourselves to the area of the project map - by the time the permanent park opens, maybe you'll be able to walk to it via the Church street underpass, before hopping on the QQE streetcar one stop to the rebuilt ferry terminal to ride an electric ferry.....and other happy stories you can tell yourself

I wouldn't call the area at 120 Queens Quay East a park. There's a few Sugar Beach pink umbrella's, but I don't see how it's a park.

They planted trees and grass last fall, they look fairly healthy and asphalted most (but not all) the walkways. Since early this year they appear to have abandoned it again as they appear to have done no maintenance and the damned 'temporary park' is still not open. If it was worthwhile paying to establish a temporary park, it would seem a no brainer to actually open it but what do I know?
Maybe it’s been handed over - Now it’s a city problem/delay?
I’m not sure what the missing surfaces are supposed to be. Maybe these were negotiated out of scope/credit on turnover?

I have zero faith that this park will be rebuilt for idk... 30 years? This is what we're getting for the foreseeable future. Also since it has no dog relief area, all the grass will be dead within 6 months due to dogs peeing everywhere (which is what has happened to basically every other recent park in downtown)

Like they had an issue with dogs peeing on the grass at the Alexander Street parkette that was just rebuilt, so the city closed it off, redid the turf, and within 2 weeks of opening it again, all the grass near the front of the park is dead and yellow because it's just a dog toilet since they didn't include a dedicated relief area.

Parks simply doesn't learn, doesn't care, and it sucks.

Adding a relief area won’t stop dogs from using the grass... Just like drivers, signage or what's close by doesn't matter – if there's space, they'll take it (even if it's on a sidewalk or bike lane).

What ever happened to the park that was meant to replace the surface parking lot at the foot of Yonge Street, directly to the West of Pier 27? Years and years ago, I recall that being part of the renderings of Pier 27.

Tied to Phase 3 of the Pier 27 development if I recall.

I have seen two people and two dogs “using” it over the last week. There must be a gap in the NW corner.

That's one ugly park in its current form (I know it is not open yet but.....)
