@Paclo - Something is happening at Cawthra and Atwater. I didn't see anything in the database but there might already be a thread for all I know. The sales centre that seemingly seemed vacant for years has been removed and shoring is occurring on the site. Here are a few photos, from April of 2023 and September 29th, 2024.

Proposed is a 3 building, 9, 8 & 8-storey rental development totaling 432 units by Morguard (operating as "Korgold Development Corporation").

Originally approved at the OMB in 1993 for a max of 12-storeys, then a SPA was submitted in 2017 for stacked towns. In 2022 the applicant revised the submission through minor variances on the OMB approved zoning by-law for the site - see below - these variances were approved by the CoA:

Excavation/Shoring permit has been issued as of Sep '24. Building permits for all three phases have been applied for but remain pending. Additional details on the current proposal in the Committee of Adjustment document from 2022.

Morguard is holding ground breaking ceremonies here tomorrow between 10 and 11 AM... in case anyone is in the neighbourhood!

This is a massive property to develop. Im happy to see more dedicated rental developments in the works - I think developers feel more secure building rentals than they do condos these days

A little news update on this development: Notice was circulated to nearby residents as the developers have requested a noise exemption from 7pm to 4am on all weekdays from June to December for concrete pouring. City informed that the Councillor is opposed to this request, and has asked the developer to determine an alternative solution.

Notice attached. Yikes.
