This site is one of 8 listed in the initial ModernTO report by the City of Toronto that is looking to consolidate the City's office leases into fewer, more modern buildings, while at the same time maximizing the land use on particular sites that they own, to include "such [uses] as affordable housing, employment uses, and community infrastructure."

This building now has that terrible reconstruction of the Sam's sign atop it. Hopefully a new building here would have the sign integrated into it, no longer requiring it to have openings to let the wind blow through it, which is what wrecked the sign.

I think the City also owns the 'white building" next door (on Dundas) that used to have Hakim Optical in it - I assume it would be part of any sale as it is empty and virtually derelict.

The city has been talking about the redevelopment potential for 20 years. This is another report. There is so much concrete happening in this city and on urbantoronto. 8 separate threads speculating that something will come of the report is unnecessary spam at this point. In time.

Will be nice to get the site developed to pull activity further along Dundas Street, and to get that safe injection site moved away.

Sam's sign will need to move yet again I suppose. Maybe second time's the charm?

The sale, at market-value for redevelopment purposes of the City-owned and occupied building at 277 Victoria is on the agenda for the March 7th meeting of CreateTO.

CreateTO would not be the ultimate proponent, but I have put them in the title as it is their project pending sale.
