Why is this even an issue? There's not much left of the original building.

BBB really went to town on it when they installed their office there in the 90s. Interestingly many details for subsequent BBB projects were first tried there on a 'test-run' basis. The 4th floor interior is quite a po-mo tour-de-force.

Unsurprising to me. The building has lost some of it's tenents over the past few years and haven't been able to replace them probably due to costly renovation work (utilities) being necessary.

If the building is preserved, the inside must be gutted.

Clearly I don't see a problem with redeveloping the building. I'm fine with the brickwork being rebuilt as a base providing it also compliments the development. Right now, the design is in the cloud.
