Chicago's Studio Gang to Design Yonge & St. Clair Rental Tower:

Just north of St. Clair, a new rental apartment tower is being proposed on the corner of Yonge Street and Delisle Avenue in Midtown Toronto. Designed by Chicago-based Studio Gang for Slate Asset Management, the project is another step in the developer's comprehensive reconceptualization of the Yonge and St. Clair neighbourhood.

When we asked Slate about whether they wanted to build or acquire residential in the neighbourhood, they swore they were a pure commercial manager and wouldn't ever touch residential.
Ah well.
I'm just happy any time I hear about someone who wants to build more purpose-built, professionally managed rental. The possibility of notable architecture is just icing.

It would be refreshing to see architectural apartment buildings. Toronto has too many slab apartment towers that are lacking in architecture.

Pretty stoked about this, any news of new rental housing is encouraging. Especially around Yonge and St Clair. Feel bad for the office clients at 2 St Clair that will have their north-facing view blocked now though.

Where is 1 Delisle Ave?

Through analysis via Google Maps, the site is either:
a) 1510 Yonge (currently has the New Balance store) or
b) the parking lot behind Shopper's (which is adjacent to other Slate properties)

My understanding is that it's basically Kwan to New Balance.

Yeah, it certainly appears to be that SW section of Yonge & Delisle. Altogether the properties encompassing 5 retailers at grade, plus the upstairs Moksha Yoga place that could be involved in this redevelopment.

Don't ever rely on Google Maps, the data can be absolute rubbish sometimes. Use the official city map.
