2006 Municipal Elections: Can someone rid us of this turbulent (and corpulent) hack?

I'm a fiscal conservative. I like it when the City finds a way of reducing spending so that the City's priorities are maintained. Unfortunately Chief Boor Rob Ford gives fiscal conservatism a bad name by adding social intolerance and appalling behaviour to his schtick.

Now we see Sewell trying to unseat Mihevc - is there no way of persuading him to simply accept the St Clair ROW is a done deal and go terminate Ford instead?

Is there any credible candidate declared or likely to declare against the buffoon?

Isn't Rob Ford the motivational speaker that lives in a van down near the river? Maybe I am thinking of someone else.

I agree that Ford is over the top with fiscal conservatism getting rid of perks with zero savings attached (i.e. TTC Passes for councillors). Personally I feel a little safer that council has a clue when it comes to budget time if they actually go and use the service the city provides to get an idea of what needs and doesn't need improvement. Personally I would prefer it if council got no parking spaces, no gas allowance, no city hall vehicles, but a free TTC pass instead and actually see some savings. Ford is just another show wanting a spotlight.

It seems whaling has been allowed for "scientific" purposes.

Time to see what makes Ford tick inside.

In the name of science, of course...

enviroTO - indeed, getting rid of City Hall reserved parking/staff parking passes would be an excellent idea, and a revenue generator for the city. Green P could then reduce nearby surface parking for revenue neutrality.

(Parking is a business the city should eventually get out of except at transit stations - I don't think it's good for the city to compete with private business as it is regulating its competition and can be accused of hypocrisy when TTC runs ads plainly targeted at Impark.)

The problem is that even when Ford accidentally had a good idea to save money he surrounded it with 19 other crap ones so nobody was going to vote for it because it might encourage him.

If I wasn't hobbled with two impediments (they don't let permanent residents vote let alone stand for election and I prefer life in East York to Etobicoke) I'd stand myself :D
