Toronto St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

View from King street over the fence: Should there be a separate Market Lane Park thread? Since St Lawrence Market north is completed.

This is correct. The roof can be opened but under a certain temperature threshold they risk having it be stuck that way due to the potential warping of metal in the structure. It takes weeks of testing and that's then the temperature is reliably warm enough to do so. An open roof situation in...

I've found the "Ignore" feature on here very useful. You can hover over a member's username and then click the "Ignore" button. I'm just not interested in reading comments repeatedly calling everything "a cancer" when all I want is project updates and photos of construction progress.

If you all really want to get rid of the pole, just install some tree-protection fencing around it.

Completely subjective on my part, but having cycled the length of Eglinton from about Warden to Allen Rd a few times the last couple winters when Line 5 testing was going on and the trains were stopping at stops, etc, I was passed multiple times on the surface sections (no idea of the tunneled...

    Toronto East Harbour GO & Ontario Line Station | 14.35m | 1s | Metrolinx | HDR

The drone shots are great, but it's hard to appreciate the scale of this until you're right next to it. Was just on the Stouffville line GO train coming into Union and this plus the bridge and underground portal are huge!

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Having taken this exact route last month on a Sunday I can attest to the accuracy of this pacing. It was a bit surreal seeing the empty LRT trains out the window go by. But the bus does stop a LOT.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Just rode the entire length of this line... on the 36 Finch bus 😂 My friend and I kept looking longingly at the passing LRT trains and she'd say, "just let us on!"

    Toronto Allure | 139.5m | 43s | Emblem Developments | Arcadis

9 months since I last posted a photo of this strip. No updates (that I'm aware of), just a sad dead plant in the window over what used to be Betty's.

Thanks for the link! So as I suspected, this is just a clickbaity headline and saying that the TTC streetcars are "the slowest in the world" is based on a comparison of only 15 cities in the study which in the linked PDF is less than a dozen pages long. Clearly room for improvement, but by the...

I realize two people have said this now, so assuming it's not hyperbole, is there an evidence-based comparison available somewhere? Just curious. I've taken the Edinburgh and Dublin trams and they both move at a snail's pace. The one I took in Alicante, Spain was decent though.

    Toronto Ookwemin Minising | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

Shouldn't be phragmites, at least not yet - all the shoreline plantings were very intentionally native species and aimed at soil stabilization, providing habitat, etc, and phragmites being a non-native invasive species, would have been weeded out if they became established prior to park opening...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

More accurately, it's that the Lake Shore/Front street area is south of the natural shoreline of Lake Ontario if it weren't for infilling, and building anything below ground level is always going to lead to accumulation of water here. The underpass at Bremner and Simcoe is particularly...

Seeing the kayakers on the river makes me snicker a bit because these shots look so much like the early renders!

Went down for a ride to check it out myself, sadly after it was already overcast, but still stunning to check out and hear so much birdsong on the trails. The only negative was seeing some bozo already walking through bushes because he couldn't be bothered to follow the paved path.

Apologies, was getting off topic complaining about AI, or what looks like it, since this is entirely a side-issue (terrible design) vs being happy the north market is open (which I am). Not outraged in the slightest - I think you're lumping me in here with people who are mad about the use of...
