    Toronto Dawes Road Library Redevelopment | 16.45m | 4s | TPL | Perkins&Will

This is the new normal. More energy efficient building = more opaque surfaces on the south, west and east facades. This means architects need to find creative ways of bringing natural light into the buildings, such as through skylights, clerestory, through screens, etc. Disagree with the idea...

    Toronto The Woodsworth | 58.21m | 17s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

The decorative metal on the facade was news to me, but it appears others have beaten me to it! Nonetheless, here are a couple shots from today. It really helps add texture to the facade.

Toronto Dr. George Robert Grasett Park | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto

Looks like the realities of construction were not considered in the original design of the piece. I'm sure all those supporting rods/struts were not part of the artist's vision and certainly take away from the overall design in my opinion.

    Toronto Concorde Corporate Centre Redevelopment | 159.36m | 47s | Fengate | Core

It's a 10 minute walk to Eglinton (not unlike many streetcar 'suburbs' in the inner city). Also, there's an existing bus line that goes right on Concorde Pl. This area will be very well served by transit.

Look at the plans, the floor plate is the same all the way up. These are most likely decorative fins.

    Toronto Regent Park: Block 27 | 94.18m | 29s | TCHC | RAW Design

For me this is the worst building built in the past decade that I can think of. I'm thinking of other disasters like Daniels waterfront, the recent college street buildings by UofT, the college park buildings, and the absolute pile that is YC condos. But this building stands head and shoulders...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

There are a few issues I have with this one: ramp to garage/loading and vehicular entrance + exit facing a future park. unlike phase 1-3, the pedestrian walkways through the site are entirely covered by the 2nd floor. Furthermore, the pathway width is reduced to allow for vehicular circulation...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

yeah, such an eyesore... In all seriousness, the Lake Shore+Gardiner combo is awful right now, but some creative design work & strategies for pedestrian prioritization ( and lots of $$$ ) could turn the Gardiner underside into a sequence of unique spaces. It's already happening...

    UrbanToronto Redesign

The design looks great! For what it's worth, i'll give my two cents: there are too many horizontal menu bars. On smaller screens like an ipad or laptop these can take up 20%+ of the screen. the top bar #1 is unnecessarily large. bar #2 doesn't have to be visible all the time, it just takes up...

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge Commercial | 170.8m | 40s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

An enormous mediocre project from HPA right next to an enormous mediocre project from aA, supposedly the best two local condo architecture firms. The bar has been set so low in this town...

    Toronto Waterfront Innovation Centre | 53.03m | 11s | Waterfront Toronto | Sweeny &Co

I agree there are disappointing projects in the area from Sweeny, aA, HPA, RAW, & Kirkor, but we have some good ones as well: Aqualuna - 3XN The Arbour - MTA Monde - Moshe Safdie Aquabella - 3XN 3C block PL1 - Adamson T3 Bayside - 3XN Not to mention whatever the future holds for quayside.
