    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I fully agree. They look even worse next to the beautiful bridges. These ones were shown to the DRP but Toronto Hydro must've changed plans. Still pretty bad... It's also very odd that utilitarian street lights will be used for the park. Why would they ever do that?

Are those really gonna be the streetlights for Villiers Island? Or are they just temporary? I was hoping for much better.

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about. The train shed is very ugly and isn't an integral part of Union Station. The head house (with the columns and great hall) is the true gem... therefore not replacing train shed WAS a mistake. This building is beautiful and adds character to this...

    Toronto Bloor-Yonge Station Capacity Enhancement | ?m | ?s | TTC | AECOM

I agree. I don't like the bland & copy-cat feel of the ceiling. The overall aesthetic is boring and feels like it could be anywhere. Union's ceiling and walls are much better. It is, in my opinion, a bare minimum of what stations should look like. I would prefer more creative interior design...

    Toronto Union Park | 303.26m | 58s | Oxford Properties | Pelli Clarke Pelli

I completely disagree. The CN Tower has its faults, such as the base where the concrete doesn't look so nice and the utility boxes above the observation pod, but it's an icon that gives identity to our increasingly bland skyline. You can see it from most parts of the inner city. Just as the...

    Toronto 123 Portland | 49.3m | 14s | Minto Group | Sweeny &Co

Perhaps a passing grade but the vertical panels could've been more brown to create a contrast with the horizontal white lines (not sure what to call them).

    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

Sorry about that. I like the many different "rooms" for activity and the expressive layout, inspired from French gardens & the Honest Ed's sign.

Nyhavn vibes? 😂 I'm sorry, I just don't see the connection.

Not sure if this has been posted before or not but here's the revised vs original design for the Mirvish Village Park... This is the location of Frank Stella's mural. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

    Toronto Rail Deck Development | 239.43m | 72s | LIUNA | Sweeny &Co

I'm surprised that Safdie didn't know what he was getting into but I'm happy to see some integrity from him. At least he spoke his mind instead of keeping it private. Everyone needs to speak out against sly developers that make beautiful renderings simply to get a permit. *** Personally, I...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT: Caledonia Station | 11.72m | 2s | Metrolinx | McCallum Sather

Seems like some changes were made from what was promised. Here's the original artwork... Which one do you prefer? Ride of Life or Ride of Your Life?

    Street Lighting

Way overdue but the key question is how this relates to City Planning's "Building Better Streetscapes" initiative and whether we'll be getting more attractive streetlights. Also, cobra-head fixtures should be replaced with a dark-sky friendly fixture but they shouldn't be utilitarian. I know...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

I'll look out for the minutes once they're released... good idea. I follow City Council but there are some terms I still don't understand, such as "final" motions. Avoiding a court case makes sense but time is ticking and this is an opportunity to give even more space for pedestrians, cyclists...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

That actually makes sense as the deck will be used for much-needed housing, parks, and amenities. I really don't understand why Nunziata is proposing this. Council should have been asking to make the entire, or most of the line, elevated instead of underground. There is ample space and it takes...

    Toronto Tyndale Green | 80.29m | 24s | Collecdev-Markee | KPMB

Thanks for informative post! I think that the park shadows are unacceptable and I'm happy to see a push for the conveyance of the below top-of-bank area to the TRCA. I'm guessing that, with public ownership, there would be a re-naturalization of the grassy area. On the other hand, could you...

    Toronto Lower Don Lands Redevelopment | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto

This is not good and I'm worried that there won't be enough time to include the removal as part of the Lake Shore project. I have a question... do you know what "(Final)" means? Also, was the motion adopted unanimously?

Kind of irrelevant to the unfortunate loss of space for artists, but here is a beautifully decorated clock in support of Ukraine...

Toronto Sherbourne Common, Canada's Sugar Beach, and the Water's Edge Promenade | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | Teeple Architects

I was referring to SC North. South is much better but it's surrounded by buildings that are boring & ugly overall and have poor retail design next to the public realm. The lawn is useful but doesn't have any amenities that you would expect with a lawn, such a soccer nets. My guess is they would...

Toronto Sherbourne Common, Canada's Sugar Beach, and the Water's Edge Promenade | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | Teeple Architects

I spent some time at East Bayfront as part of a Jane's Walk. Something I noticed is that many of the public places, like Sherbourne Common and Aitken Place Park, were designed with the right intentions but don't attract many people as they aren't conducive to urban life and are pretty ugly...
