    St Lawrence Market

Yes! Cuon Cuon is very good, and operated by very kind people. I particularly like their bahn mi sandwiches, but in the summer they also sell cold rolls, wrapped in thin rice paper. Their iced Vietnamese coffees are also dangerously delicious. I hope they are getting the support they need so...

    West Don Lands

I saw this the other day: is it open yet? I searched online and determined that it seems like an output of this chain, which started in South Korea and spread to Canada starting in 2018. They have tons of locations. Personally I find it confusing to name your business "bbq chicken" when you sell...

    St Lawrence Market

I'm sure there are tools out there but I just did it manually, copied and pasted into a text file, made it into a CSV with a few find/replaces, then imported it into a Google Sheet and copied out the text column.

Good for him. I've extracted the relevant Market Street part of the meeting transcript here: And I do have three questions. One, is staff planning on bringing a report of Market Street forward? What progress has been made in the past five years? And lastly, are there any plans to consult with...

    East-West Water Shuttle Pilot

Maybe this is old news to some, but it's new to me, via the Waterfront Toronto website. Fares and schedules still TBD, but I love the idea. "Launching in June 2026, the East-West Water Shuttle Pilot provides a new way to move across Toronto’s Inner Harbour"

Toronto Cherry House at Canary Landing | 50.32m | 13s | Dream | COBE Architects

I agree. I love seeing the Distillery starting to overflow its boundaries a bit, Le Beau is very popular on Cherry, now Mandy's will lure people as well. Does anyone know if there are plans to improve the signed "motorcoach loading zone" on Trinity, where the buses drop all the tourists? It's...

Moss Park / Queen & Sherbourne

When was the last murder on the 501? Has there ever been a murder on the 501? I don't know, but "Murder on the 501" sounds like a good Agatha Christie story just begging to be written. What a shame she's dead, she must have made the mistake of riding the TTC.

This building is fantastic, and being right across the street from the hideousness of T&S makes it gleam even brighter. And I have the say the restoration they did on the Tim Hortons building is excellent. My only complaint with it is that it's too good to waste on Tim Hortons! 😀

It's happening! Construction fencing has gone up around the section of David Crombie Park between Sherbourne and Princess. (Edited later to add the photos that were somehow left in draft)

Toronto St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

This CBC article seems to suggest the contractors have a pretty slim chance of winning this, though I'm not qualified to say if that's accurate or not. The $83m claim does seem crazy high, though -- it's basically two thirds of the entire final $128m project cost, after numerous overruns.

100%. I'm sure this sounds like a petty complaint to many people but walking downtown has been a nightmare for most of the winter, and this single closure was perfectly positioned to cause me to make multiple extra street crossings when trying to get to/from my home, No Frills, and the...

Looks great. But I would very much like that sidewalk back soon.

The original plan for this was approved back in 2020/2021. Six years later, will we actually see some shovels in the ground? I hope so. But I notice the most interesting and arguably most important parts -- the cycle track rebuild and the proper dog park -- are still years out.

That would be great, just like the South Market, basically. But I didn't notice anything about that explicitly in the REOI. The diagram does specify that the cafe tenant will need to provide washrooms directly inside the space. Regardless, I imagine a lot of the business will be taken to go, as...

Toronto St Lawrence Market North | 25.3m | 5s | City of Toronto | Rogers Stirk Harbour

The city has released a Request for Expression of Interest (REOI) Proposals for Leasing the North Market Café [PDF] with a March 13 deadline for proposals. I notice the retail area includes some outdoor space in front (I assume the black circles in the diagram on page 21 are supposed to be...

    Canary District

I suggested creating a Canary District thread a few years back but was told the existing West Don Lands thread covered the same area. I'm actually not sure if the boundaries coincide exactly, but they are pretty close. Maybe we could renamed the other forum to something like "Canary District /...

The Nealon House building at 197 King East, formerly part of the Sonder empire that went bankrupt last year, has now been taken over by a Canadian aparthotel company called Nester & Finn. The signage is already changed and the location is available to book on their website. I'm glad to see that...

    St Lawrence Market

The Goose Island and Bier Markt pubs on the Esplanade are now both closed. According to rumours elsewhere online, they were both purchased by the owner of the neighbouring Scotland Yard pub. Does anyone have information about what the plan is here? That stretch of large patios is great for the...

    St Lawrence Market

I noticed there's new building permit in the city database for 12 Market St, dated Jan 9, 2026. 12 Market St is the narrow unit most recently used as an overflow seating space for Balzac's. A few years before that, it was home to the Evolution Food Co / Garden Gangsters vegan restaurant. The...

    West Don Lands

Interesting. To protect the trees from sidewalk salt, or dogs, or both? I don't mind the little railings, though they do look a bit bare-bones in the harshness of winter. I would love to see them painted black but that would probably be futile.
