North York City Centre (Yonge & Sheppard)

I think in terms of livability, North York Centre is the preferred area for those that live in the community. The Yonge and Sheppard area is still very land locked by the highway and there's not much more as you walk a block or two south. The economics change pretty dramatically as you go...

    The Retail Apocalypse

I never really understood how HBC could even occupy such a large property on Queen. For years if you've ever gone up to the 6th or 7th floor, you really felt like one of the only individuals on that floor.

    The Retail Apocalypse

I wouldn't really consider Honeydale a "mall" in the same sense as the dead malls you see in america. Honeydale was built as a community mall with one major tenant occupying the majority of the footprint of this mall. It was doomed to fail being in such close proximity to Cloverdale and the...

    The Retail Apocalypse

Dead malls don't really seem to be a thing in Canada, but there are tons of the them in the US. It's pretty scary when you see just how many there are in the US - http://deadmalls.com/stories.html

Battle of the Mattresses: Casper vs. ENDY

I'm not so sure what the issue is with having more competition. Competition is always good. I was riding the subway recently and also saw an ad of another mattress brand based on of Toronto called Silk and Snow. www.silkandsnow.com It appears they have been getting a lot of good reviews.

    The Retail Apocalypse

With all these major retailers going under or exiting, it's going to be really tough to fill anchor tenants for large commercial retail properties. Some malls are pretty dead and haven't seemed to recover since losing tenants such as Target.

    Riverdale

That would be great. I was a bit disheartened to see the cannabis shops moving in across the street. Lady marmalade will be a welcome change. I hope it continues.

    Pokémon Go

I didn't realize this was still a thing. I have not seen anyone play this anymore. It seemed to have come and gone pretty quickly.

    Is tuition free now?

Just curious where did you read that it covers $5K? In the past, I know that lower income families would have a large portion of their loan forgiven. But at the end of the day, it was still a loan for which the student was responsible for repaying a majority of it.

Toronto Spadina Subway Extension Emergency Exits | ?m | 1s | TTC | IBI Group

That would be awesome. With the added bonus of taking away another potential site for a city funded stadium development.

    Chinatown

I was in the area the other day and was really surprised with the Rexall moving in. Seeing this part of Chinatown in decay so mnay years, it's nice to see some good new anchor tenants.
