    Montréal Transit Developments

To me the worst thing about the TTC subway isn't how bad it looks, it's the narrow platforms. They're downright dangerous. Some of the platform areas at King and Bloor (line 2) are just crazy. I ride the TTC all the time and I've never seen them scrub the floors, but to be fair, one time there...

    SmartTrack (Proposed)

King-Liberty being dropped means Parkdale transit will be hot garbage for another few decades at least.

If there's ever been a good version of conservatism, then this must be it.

    Toronto The One | 308.6m | 85s | Tridel | Foster + Partners

I would have thought that once the structural work was done to support a 328m+ tower, that it would be more cost-effective to build more floors and more units rather than fewer. The VE plan sounds like what RyanAir would do with an A380: all-economy class with 850 seats.

At this point I think they're padding their schedule "just 'cause." Or maybe they've gotten so used to huge delays that that don't actually remember how to do an opening day anymore.

Not disagreeing with you for the most part, except that Millennium Park is very much part of the individuality and personality of Chicago.

    TTC: Major Operational Issues (Various)

I think many of them can't. It's too bad there's no will to build much of an RT network downtown, and no meaningful improvements to the streetcar network either. Most of what's on the books is pretty suburban-focused (Sheppard is the suburbs to me). Nevertheless I think there will be a better...

    Toronto/Chicago comparisons

Was it on the outskirts of town or something? Chicago's great. Not one to be missed.

Fom working in the industry for years, I can almost guarantee that the devs were like "Not crashing into other LRVs was never in the spec. You'll have to submit that req for the next sprint."

Not disagreeing about the likelihood of operational issues (and let's all hope that we're pleasantly surprised because Toronto transit really needs a good news story right now), but I don't think people here are just beginning to see the shortcomings of the ECLRT. They've been apparent since the...

    Montréal Transit Developments

Sure, but a metro line built in the 80's should never have been slated for decommissioning in the 2020s.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The thought of Sabrina Carpenter not only riding a GO train but then also transferring to a f###ing Miway bus 🤣🤣🤣

Dundas West/ Bloor Mobility Hub +interconnected hub network (Metrolinx)

So they won't have escalators? Pretty sure the biggest use-case is people headed to/from the airport, usually with rolling luggage (and either way, that's my main use case for UPX so it's the most important one). TTC/GO Elevators are the worst because the doors close so slowly that someone is...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Metrolinx does have an exemption from the Toronto municipal government, but only from the noise-bylaw. the exemption they cite allows them to carry out construction activities 24/7 if the work falls under the vague category of "government" construction.

Everyone says this until it happens to them. I lived next to the Well's construction site for years and it seemed reasonable compared to ML's practices. The Well was almost immediately hooked up to Toronto Hydro to comply with the city's bylaw, ML's contractors just run a comical number of...
