    Montréal Transit Developments

I find Gare Centrale is still a million times better than Union Station here in Toronto. You get the feeling your in a wide train station with everything in once place. Seating, food and shopping. Unlike Union where the grand hall is just for show with the VIA trains at Bay concourse. Then there...

Danforth Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension

Ripping things apart in 3 days, sure. Building things in 3 years, nope. Although I see why they need to remove this. I’m not happy that it just means more gridlock and only at grade intersections will replace it.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

C-train stations are usually 2km apart in the suburbs similar to North Yonge. It’s a lot easier to hit 80 but access is quite difficult. Most people drive to the stations and park there. The downtown corridor is also stupid in rush hour. It’s like dwelling with crush load on Yonge plus waiting...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Even before all this crap they were doing 50-60 km/h beside the Allen. They couldn’t even build the stretch for 80 km/h.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

You should see what they do with the TRs in the middle of the Allen. Transit is such a joke with the TTC.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

It won’t make much of a difference in most parts of the route. Maybe save like 30 seconds between Kipling to Islington. Unless the difference meant missing red lights which transit priority should help. Oh wait, do we even have extended green like we do for streetcars?

Ottawa LRVs couldn't even run on any ML LRT lines or the ION. Somehow they chose 1500V DC oppose to the standard 750V DC. The Citadis was suppose to be the backup car for the crosstown so they should at least be able top run on the line manually.

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

Traffic is so much worse in the last 5 years not because of COVID but the feds allowed so many people to immigrate to the GTA without a transportation plan. They just let the city absorb all the problems. The province just decides to slowly build some transit lines and highway to try to patch up...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

This is probably the most reasonable approach as they won't need an expensive overhead maintenance team. The downside is dwelling for 10 min so they can charge in an already overcrowded terminal. Hope the bus isn't 20 min late.

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

That's TTC's problem not Cummins/New Flyers. If there is no replacements in 10 years, they would have to either go back to diesel or bite the nail with artic EVs. It could be possible that hybrid artics be offered again if they can develop a better EV. Hybrid artics are some really expensive...

    TTC: Major Operational Issues (Various)

It seems that TTC was always doing crappy maintenance but was only called out after the SRT derailment. Now they are placing a slow order on everything that they wouldn't bat an eye on back then. Canadian transit is such a joke. They do maintenance worst than 3rd world countries but need 1st...

TTC: Electric and alternative fuel buses

First, Cummins has made indications they will not design an engine to be outdated in 3 years when the forecasted sales is only a small amount, let's say 100-200 units. The US enforces a new EPA standard every 3 years. Second, the city don't want to buy more hybrids so it doesn't matter if a new...

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

CPKC is here to do business and create efficiency. Like every other business. Not sure how people don't understand that they won't suffer for free to improve GTA resident's life. They don't care about transit in Mississauga otherwise they would have given better operating times already. Like it...

    Toronto Crosstown LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

They are people who signed up for it, based on seniority. I'm pretty sure some people are happy with driving their buses for the last 30 years. Others wanted to get into subways but positions aren't available. This opened up a couple years ago for sign ups and the selected ones are starting to...

    Roads: GTA West Corridor—Highway 413

This means they might actually need a Pickering airport and a large employment area around it. It scores a big fat ZERO on the environments test through.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Until they stop treating construction as a social employment program, it'll never end. It also seem like if they only did construction all at the same time every decade, there will be no expertise left as they all have to look for a different job.

    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

The project has a contingency fund set aside for problem like this. I'm not sure if they used it up since the project was already overrun. Since this is a border station and York Region was suppose to pay a portion of overrun cost, they might be forced to chip in too.

I wonder if their parts warranty has expired on these cars.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Yeah, the stops are further apart. Platforms are longer and higher with level boarding (over a foot instead of less than half a foot). You have to buy your fare first before boarding instead of walking on the streetcar and tapping when (or if) you feel like it. Terminals will have a crossover so...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Since Line 5 and 6 will operate from the same division, the same crews would have to be train for both lines? I think is the biggest hold up.
