    Toronto U of T: University College Revitalization | ?m | 3s | U of T | Kohn Shnier

Well, one implies a malicious intent. Just say you don't like the acclaimed, award winning project. Maybe that's easier.

Harmony sure. But the idea of styles being "disrespectful" is just tired trad nonsense.

"Disrespectful" to a style needs to be retired from architectural discourse. It is truly meaningless.

"People want it that way" - not sure why we are deferring to a landowning minority. There is a much larger majority who want and need housing. We just happen to listen to the loudest and wealthiest voices in the room. "They're going to get it that way" - not sure how we can say that with any...

This is all on Stan Cho, he's almost single-handedly holding this up. Voters should hold him personally accountable on this come election time.

Idk maybe by not normalizing it in architecture/urban discourse? Oh and by literally not designing like that.

    Toronto Nobu Residences Toronto | 156.66m | 45s | Madison Group | Teeple Architects

Sure, but theres a difference between being efficient and economical and being neglectful. Not sure why we should tolerate the latter?

    Toronto The Campbell | 47.24m | 14s | TAS | Teeple Architects

Why though? Isn't this the type of form (rectilinear, 12-14 storey mid-rise) that the city needs more of? It's less restricted by the angular planes of the mid-rise guidelines and the site isn't really a major node. If it was 55 storeys it would what, a smaller point tower on sprawling podium...

    Toronto Grid Condos | 157.88m | 50s | CentreCourt | IBI Group

Living and working in an unbearably hot condo with massive amounts of solar heat gain for days and weeks on end during a pandemic isn't really a laughing matter... A little sympathy couldn't hurt. Unfortunately AC is a critical utility in these condos, especially these days where there are few...

On East55 at least, the spandrel are backpainted IGU's as opposed to backpainted single-panes, so it is ultimately a price/quality issue. Would love to see more of the former but it's a premium few developers are willing to spring for.

    Toronto The Woodsworth | 58.21m | 17s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

Sure, except the unit layouts aren't great, balconies aren't on the optimal exposure (for solar performance or use) and the execution of concept is poor.

    Toronto 820 Church Street | 124.1m | 38s | 820 Church GP | Arcadis

It's a very complicated site. Subway tunnel beneath and hydro infrastructure next door add a ton of complications to an already tight site.

I too enjoy good architecture in this city and others and shed a tear for the lost profit margins.

Lol ok. Little integrity. Completely erroneous comparison to Myhal, taste may vary but the quality of design and execution there are much higher. Menkes could have done better, that is on them. It's disappointing.

Would it be 80% leased if Menkes followed through with the type of high quality design they initially presented... yep So? It's just an indictment on Menkes integrity as a developer. Apparently they have none.

    Toronto The Residences of 488 University Avenue | 206.95m | 55s | Amexon | Core Architects

Has massive building operations and energy performance issues, but architecturally yes. For all its green aspirations, its apparently one of the least efficient buildings on U of T campus.

    Toronto East FiftyFive | 83.21m | 24s | Lamb Dev Corp | a—A

Incredibly there is. Likely back painted (surface 4) IGU spandrel panel. Blends very well.
