GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As a heads up, memo's were released yesterday indicating that hourly midday train service will be starting on the Barrie Line in January to East Gwilimbury. The question now is if they will be maintaining half hourly headways supplemented by the bus fleet, or if we will be adopting the same path...

On another note, stouffville trains will now be stopping at Danforth in the new February schedule.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Toronto bound movements on the lakeshore west line operate with the locomotive leading, and cab car trailing. Which means that whoever in there wasn't directly operating the train. Very likely could have been a third crew member, lots of trainee conductors on the radios these days. I agree...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

Does this mean the new tracks and signalling plants are close to completion? Last time I went down there it was still the single CTC main with all other installations inoperable.

I don't believe they need a zone speed greater than 85 in that section. Keep in mind that go is also limited by equipment capabilities and there GOI. Higher zone speeds also require a different standard of maintenance for obvious reasons. I just don't think the extra speed is warranted in that...

I'm aware of that. It's only just north though. I meant in terms of storing the second train set temporarily while waiting for the train in between. This would need to be done somewhere especially if the two trains are being deadheaded together.

Looks like Teston siding will finally be seeing some regular action. These deadheads should create some interesting meets in the morning hours.

You are correct about the Canadian's route. Referring to the Bala sub, the second track and new signal system are up and running to the layover facility. Go equipment used to be used to run a service to Casino Rama that went up the Bala to Washago, then reverse on the newmarket in 2h30m. Such...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Probably up to Brechin East ( Mile 72.2 ), or Washago if they are really lucky. The problem with the bala sub is that it is CNs primary north/south route though Ontario; It depends on how busy CN is on the given day, as most of the time with meets it will the go train going into the siding...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

According to CN timetables, Via trains that have P42 locomotives and renaissance coaches are authorized for LRC speed. All other passenger consists are governed by Passenger Plus( +5) and zone speeds.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

You are correct. The P42s are maxed out at 110mph, but never exceed 100. GO's MP40s are rated for 93mph.

Good to know. Awsome location name too :). Is the line north of machell still OCS? I assume that CN RTC desk YB will be dispatching the line now that it is CTC. I believe it used to be desk B when that part of the line was OCS.

I'm aware of that. I was just wondering if Bradford is to be a controlled location(absolute), or if the second track there is to remain a service track. Painswick to Aurora seems a long way with just intermediate signals.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

The new controlled signals at Aurora today were being turned to face the tracks. Perhaps final preparations for CTC activation? Just out of curiosity, is Bradford a soon to be CTC controlled location as well? It would serve as a good point between Aurora and Painswick, and I wasn't sure if...

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

In regards to January service changes, it seems like they haven't posted anything in regards to north changes at all. Makes me think that they might be holding off and will be posting those changes last minute, just in case of signal problems with the new CTC on the Newmarket sub. Great to hear...
