    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Same. It’ll be really nice when the Hanlon Parkway / highway 6/7 through Guelph is completely grade separated. It doesn’t happened often but when the train rolls through it can cause lots of congestion. Will be nice to see those at grade crossings finally separated.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Fake news. Everyone knows that trains can’t fly

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

Well one difference is that Ontario Northland has variable pricing similar to VIA. I do think there should be a contactless payment for last minute boardings. I also hope that there’s a fare agreement with the Northlander to accept Presto fares from Gormley south bound. Sure it’s standing...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Seeing these OnRoute pictures makes me wish they would get serious about building some locations north of Barrie. And rebuild Highway 11 to full freeway status between Barrie and Gavernhurst. That route was a death trap during the thanksgiving weekend.

    VIA Rail

Heck, the fact that there isn’t a Montreal-Sherbrooke train service is frustrating. Decent population, lots of students and already heavily travelled by bus.

And there’s space to add another track on the bridge across the Credit River.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

As someone who rode that specific train a few times it wasn’t a big deal. They were very clear on the announcements that it was stopping in Guelph. As far as I remember no one came up to the CSA in tears complaining. Also this is great news! And judging by the Heritiage Road construction I hope...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

At a glance looks like Bing Maps. Interesting. Looks like an ESA satellite taking pictures as it orbits. Pretty impressive resolution for a public satellite.

The overlords at CPKC will never allow that.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Same but I'm not holding my breath. Interesting though is that the GO has not announced special October Reading Week train service to Kitchener during the weekend yet. Nevermind, looks like GO just announced service to coincide with Oktoberfest. Now if only weekend service to Kitchener was...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Some shots of the 2nd track work heading west out of Guelph Central. Just before the Hanlon overpass Future Breslau Station IMO this station should be built sooner than later. The western edge of the Kitchener Line needs a proper park and ride station. Trying to get out of Kitchener Station...

It also helps with Highway 11 being completely grade separated and four laned that fast travel North Bay - Toronto is super convenient. No more lights or slowing down in each town.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Pro tip: the City Of Toronto and other tech minded municipal governments or CA’s tend to update their air photos at least once a year so you can usually get the most up to date air photos on the GIS page.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

At this point UP Express should be renamed “UP Local”. I’m glad these neighborhoods are getting more service like Woodbine, Weston, and Mount Pleasant but at some point you can’t service everyone on an airport link train.

    Intercity Bus Services

I hope the Northlander is very successful and makes ONR and the province consider other routes. Sudbury- North Bay - Toronto on alternating days? Sudbury has the population and lots of traffic already heading southbound.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Very nice. I suggest a slight step further south and start such a bus service from Aberfoyle Park & Ride. You can capture the 401 buses heading between Waterloo and Toronto (Route 25) and the University of Guelph.

    Intercity Bus Services

Exactly. What I envision is parallel but segregated passenger and freight lines. The same way GO and CN run parallel but separate lines between Pickering and Oshawa. Completely agree with the university student market. It's smart and you can clearly how they specifically target that market...

    Intercity Bus Services

Thank you for the hard work putting this together. Looking through your document I was surprised that WestJet only flies once per day between Toronto and Ottawa. You can really see how much seat allocation that VIA Rail has. Really puts into perspective their capacity on trains. I know this is...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Guelph Central Station is a good example of an urban station with lots of transit options onwards. My frustrated is the lack of service directly to Cambridge and Kitchener. At least Route 17 finally started to cover Hamilton and Waterloo (lack of weekend service is still annoying). Such a...

Better than nothing. At least Temagami Station is being maintained and used. And the public can enter to see the beautiful architecture.
