Hamilton Coppley Building Redevelopment | ?m | 4s | Core Urban Inc. | Lintack Architects

I mean windows back when that was built are not the same as windows today. Making a single pane glass window is fairly easy to do in any shape, making a double/triple pane modern window in custom shapes is certainly possible, but its not a stock item.

Hamilton Coppley Building Redevelopment | ?m | 4s | Core Urban Inc. | Lintack Architects

Definitely would raise the cost of windows to do a custom shape (for that many too), and given how minor the arch is probably just isn't worth it. I imagine the bottom floor of coppley with the large arched sections will have rounded sections (cheaper as they are just picture windows at the top).

    Hamilton 2640-2654 Binbrook Road | 11m | 3s | Christemi LP | Esposto

Seems like good infill for Binbrook. It seems like they are giving some property to the parcel on the west side for a drive-thru aisle, wonder if that was in exchange for letting customers of the commercial units park in their parking lot.

    Hamilton Manor on Main | 44.95m | 12s | Bloomfield Group | KNYMH

Nice density, wish the parking was a little lower ratio but ~3:1 is not bad, especially with commercial spaces. Definitely not a looker though, that'll be an ugly building.

    Hamilton Lime Ridge Mall Intensification (Phase 1) | ?m | 12s | Primaris REIT | WZMH

Adding a costco would probably just destroy any semblance of good traffic levels.

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Yes the ATC1 contractor got a contract variation to construct the sidewall shoring of the station boxes for the underground stations (they had previously done the headwalls before tunneling).

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

From a feasibility standpoint jacking the shed would be possible while keeping the station in service. You would install the jacks one at a time during nightwork and cover them up with hoarding, if you cut into the columns and place the jack there it would not take up much more room than the...

    Hamilton 290 Fennell Avenue West | ?m | 18s | Schlegel Villages | Cornerstone

I wish the plan was more of an urban build out instead of this tower in the park configuration. But at least its something.

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

I think you'll find a lot of the same contractors/consultants on Finch are also on other projects. It's a small industry (not construction in general, but these transit projects).

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Stop spacing on the REM is pretty long vs the Metro. It's a rapid regional light metro interurban. Trying to shove it into any pre-existing box is unproductive. The Canada line is maybe the closest comparison but even that has much closer stop spacing, which implies a different desired service...

    Hamilton Lime Ridge Mall Intensification (Phase 1) | ?m | 12s | Primaris REIT | WZMH

That would be the A-Line. It remains unfunded and it will likely go through another battle of "but what if we just do BRT"

    Hamilton Lime Ridge Mall Intensification (Phase 1) | ?m | 12s | Primaris REIT | WZMH

They used to have a second location on the mountain slightly east of there and closed it. Seems funny to open another one again.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Note the notification from the condo board implies they are seeking only portions of the property. Could be that they were unable to reach a deal with the condo board to access the property during tunneling or the risk of damage to the property was too great and the mitigation was to acquire the...

    Finch West Line 6 LRT

Just read the Mx and TTC descriptions. Mx refers to Humber and Finch as stations, but everything else is stops. The TTC page for Finch refers to all of them as stations. https://www.metrolinx.com/en/news/all-stations-and-stops-complete-along-the-finch-west-lrt...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Less buried watercourses, less buried infrastructure. There are a few overlaps between WEC (ECWE ATC1 contractor) and CTS (ECLRT contractor) - Aecon and Dragados are involved in both. SSE is Strabag doing the tunneling, but their issues seem to revolve around the complexity of such a large...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

SSE seems to be a lesson in not using a single huge bore tbm in questionable soil conditions. The minned tunnel on ECWE is fairly slow but at least it is steady.

    Roads: Traffic Signals

I addressed this in the next line. The way the HTA is written it doesn't explicity exclude you from running two non-conflicting priorities. The lastest OTM book 12 is actually more explicit: If the signal controller can detect switch positions, this would be possible in the same phase: This...

    Roads: Traffic Signals

What I want isn't relevant, that's what the HTA intends and allows for currently. It's a priority light for any movement for official transit vehicles on scheduled routes. It's not a free for all for any random bus that shows up, but a priority that the transit agency and municipality can plan...

    Roads: Traffic Signals

That's entirely up to Toronto. They can choose to change that tomorrow, the HTA act allows it.
