    TTC: Other Items (catch all)

There was also Davenport, small as it was, right behind Hillcrest, which closed in the early 1990s if I recall (my Dad briefly considered transferring there from Lansdowne). I highly doubt it could be reactivated unless it was extensively rebuilt commensurate with Hillcrest being modified to...

    Conestoga College feels the squeeze

Funny you should mention Fanshawe: their "campus" in the office building at Bay south of Gerrard that replaced a Duke pub finally shuttered this week.

    TTC: Streetcar Network

That video is very interesting, I think that's the first time I've ever seen images or video of CLRV's on Toronto tracks running in multiple-unit operation. Richard Glaze's videos on Transit Toronto also show streetcars operating at very high speeds on numerous routes well into the beginning of...

The time to reboot Sparkles is now.

I actually used to live in those townhouses, the irony being that there *used* to be a grocery store in that plaza: Ferlisi Brothers, long before it became the CashMoney place. When I grew up here in the 1970s and 1980s that stretch of Keele did in fact have a variety of retail along it, from...

    Toronto Eglinton Line 5 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | Arcadis

I read somewhere - Transit Toronto most likely - that its original name was to be "Vincent", after the streetcar loop that existed on the other side of the street and the fact the station sits atop Vincent Yard.

    Toronto The Bedford | 53.37m | 13s | Burnac Corporation | Audax

I walked by the site this morning and a few of the houses on Bedford south of Davenport have been fenced off in preparation for demolition.

    Toronto Eaton Centre (Ongoing Renewal) | ?m | ?s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I shop there once a week or so as it's a quick trip downstairs for me, agreed with all of the above. Just to add: - they have some wines for under $30 that are quite good - the Sicilian and Puglia wines in particular - that the LCBO doesn't carry - solid gluten-free pasta options (and good...

    Toronto Union Pearson Express | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx | MMM Group Limited

There kinda sorta was one, albeit temporary, in 1979: Source. That was an old, repurposed former Grand Trunk/GO station and I think you can still see the staircases there.

    Downtown Yonge

That's...interesting, and encouraging. So it now ends at Charles Street? Along Bay as well on the western boundary? When did this take place? If that's the case then we'll hopefully see the area maintained to a slightly higher standard as they have their own team of workers removing litter...

    The Fountains Of Toronto

Don't know if it's been mentioned but the long-dormant fountain at the MacDonald buildings at Bay and Wellesley has been re-activated as part of the renovation/restoration. I'm not sure I even recall it in operation and I've been walking by there for fifteen years.

    Simons

Damn, I just bought two dress shirts from there... what happened to them? Did you dry clean them? Absolutely agreed about Hudson Room and Black & Brown. In retrospect I should have bought more but I went up a size during COVID...

    Return to office discussion

That's a kind of "it depends" scenario: firm, role, client-facing or not, internal firm culture, etc. I've worked for several of the largest firms, and at some I wore a tie every day - especially when I was a manager - others, not so much. My current firm is a mix: most partners and senior...

Miscellany Toronto Photographs: Then and Now

Rarer still are any photos of streetcars in service on the trackage along Louisa/Albert that extended *west* of Bay, up Elizabeth and over to Dundas. I think I may only have seen one such photo of an actual streetcar on that trackage.

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

No joke, I've been seeing that in the Annex and Yorkville on my walks: swastikas on tags and socialist/communist posters one day, and gone the next. To paraphrase Buckley's cough syrup: it's ugly, but it works. Also: TorontoEast@metrolinx.com OntarioLine@metrolinx.com Meaghan.Glaab@metrolinx.com

Toronto Manulife Centre Podium and Streetscape Renewal | 9.75m | 2s | Manulife Real Estate | MdeAS Architects

Yes and no, it's kind of a chicken-and-egg, build-it-and-they-will-come type of situation. I've lived there long enough to remember when there were more clothing stores in the mall - Quattro, etc. - and Ron White shoes and Over the Rainbow seem to do well. LL Bean is a higher price-point, moreso...
