GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

Yeah, but some of those coaches were probably put in storage during the winter months when they weren't testing out the AC's.

GO Transit: Service thread (including extensions)

To be fair, considering how many coaches they have, trying to maintain all the AC's in every coach while maintaining service must be a constant battle. At my work, during the summer, our mechanics struggle to maintain the AC's in all our equipment. I often see operators driving around the yard...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Which often gives the impression that these are all "vanity projects". Will a LRT along Finch provide better service than say simply improving buses along Finch? Metrolinxs probably has no idea. They just know LRT's are chique and cause property values to spike.

    VIA Rail

I'm in Moncton right now. Infact I was at the Moncton VIA rail station yesterday. Took a photo of the Halifax bound train. Would VIA ever consider running some kind of east coast train, running between St. John - Halifax? With maritime bus connections to Fredricton, Charlottetown and Sydney...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It often feels like Metrolinx's work force is spread thin because they have too many projects going on at the same time. I wish they would focus on improving one line at a time.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Why don't hotel chains look at constructing properties near GO stations? Take the UP express to Union and then the GO train to your hotel. Easy access to downtown without staying in downtown.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

The issue isn't the lack of employment located close to GO stations. I imagine most people who live within walking distance of a GO station work in DT Toronto. My issue with all the GO station residential developments is the lack of restaurants, bars, community/ park areas, grocery stores...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

Yes, roof over tracks. That's what I meant by canopy. What I've been told is that Metrolinx can't make any changes to their infrastructure on their lines if it isn't compatible with CN's freight trains. I'm sure there is a way to electrify the lines while still accommodating freight trains...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

I was told by someone at CN that GO will never be allowed to begin electrification of any lines unless they have CN's permission. Even on tracks Metrolinx owns. Basically Metrolinx isn't allowed to install new signals or change any type of infrastructure on tracks that doesn't accomodate freight...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

I was at Billy Bishop on June 30th for my flight to Moncton. The lounge was packed. Good to see this regional airport still getting a lot of foot traffic. I thought since the UP Express reduced their fares, this airport would get less traffic. Not the case. Waiting at the "check in" line up...

    General railway discussions

Why reiterate things that are already common knowledge on this forum?

    General railway discussions

Everybody on this forum knows this. He was referring to GO trains on the Milton line.

Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

If I'm reading this correctly, the bus lanes at Mississauga road will switch from being in the middle of the road to being curb side? Which means the buses will have to drive through traffic? Why can't they just keep the lanes in the middle? I don't see why the Dundas BRT can't be designed...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

It honestly feels like MX has too many projects going on.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Looks like the twin tracking of the Barrie line hasn't gone passed Aurora as of yet. Work has not yet started on any of the crossings north of the station. June 24, 2024

Dundas St Rapid Transit (Metrolinx, Mississauga, Halton Region, CoT)

It's a real shame that Oakville didn't take the opportunity, while widening Trafalgar Rd., to incorporate the Trafalgar Rd. BRT. Having a BRT on both Trafalgar and Dundas would be a game changer for the town. People north of Dundas, who don't own a car, would have much easier access to the GO...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

Things like "transit" and "walkable neighbourhoods" take a collective effort. So does driving on the highway and hoping every other driver respects the rules of the road. I don't know why their seems to be a spike in anti-social behaviour as of late. It definitely has gotten worst post-covid. I...

Roads: Gardiner Expressway catch-all, incl. Hybrid Design (2015-onwards)

The "gas tax" is the charge that drivers pay to fund the road infrastructure they drive on. Every time a driver fills up their car, they're funding the infrastructure their automobile relies on. Not to derail this thread, but this is why governments are now trying to figure out another type of...

Sheppard Line 4 Subway Extension (Proposed)

I would be more in favour of extending the western portion of the Ontario line to Park Lawn, near Mimico. Then construct the Jane line to connect the Ontario line with the Sheppard line.
