    Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

So ridiculous. No doubt he's purchasing this jet now because he holds a majority government with the next election not until April 2030. My guess is the Ford government is counting on most voters by then will have forgotten he ever purchased the jet. I suppose if he loses the election in 2030...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

EELRT is a terrible project that will be slower than buses in bus lanes. What's worst is that it'll most likely be worst than Line 6 due to having so many bends and turns. At least Line 6 is pretty much a straight shot along Finch, and yet it barely manages to go faster than the bus it replaces.

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

But why? Why did the government move forward, and waste so much time & money on a plan they didn't like from the start, and had no intentions of seeing through? Aside from our little niche of transit enthusiasts, it's not as if the wider voting base is clamouring for electric trains. Nor did...

    GO Transit Electrification | Metrolinx

After reading the most recent Trillium article, one has to wonder, why did the Ford government even bother to move ahead with the whole ONxpress project with DB? If the article is right, it seems within only months after making the initial announcement, MX and the Ontario government started...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

When I was in Ottawa riding the transitway a couple years back, I saw a contractor walk into a station and and just start power washing the entire inside. Looked as if the interior of the station was designed for quick and easy washing.

Imagine how much different this shot is going to look in 10 years time.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

MPP Stephen Lecce put out a short video proclaiming all major work at Maple GO is now completed. Looking at the drone shots of the station, there is a sizable gap between the two tracks. Are there plans to incorporate a third track at Maple GO to allow for some kind of express service on the...

    Mississauga Hurontario-Main Line 10 LRT | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Shots like these ones really makes one wish we had opted to do a Vancouver Skytrain setup for Hurontario instead of an at-grade LRT.

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Don't be a hater! Embrace the foamer within. GO doesn't need fully electric trains. We're just going to replicate Metra but with better stations/ frequencies. 👍😆👍

GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

Foamers are going to love this, while advocates for GO electrification are going to hate this.

The 148/ 149 are still running. I know this for a fact.

    General railway discussions

In this day and age of intermodal trains, it would make more sense to rebuild this stretch of abandoned track, straighten out the mainline, and completely bypass the city centre.

    General railway discussions

What's the deal with the CN mainline and Brantford? Why does it dip into downtown when it appears that there is an abandoned stretch of track that skirts around just north of the city? If you zoom in on Brantford, you can actually make out where the track used to go around Brantford...

Alto - High Speed Rail (Toronto-Quebec City)

GO transit can serve up to Kitchener, Niagara Falls, Bowmanville, but beyond that what Ontario needs to take traffic off the highways is true inter-city rail. I posted something in this regard over in the Northlander thread. It's a shame CN owns the best tracks for inter-city rail within...

    Ontario Northland/Northern Ontario Transportation

If Northlander is successful it could be the beginning of intercity rail in Ontario. It would make sense to eventually extend service to Sudbury. As @JasonParis stated earlier, the success of Northlander could lead to a possible "Southlander" travelling to places like London, Sarnia, Windsor...

    Eglinton East LRT | Metrolinx

Would rather see Line 4 extended to Morningside, and Line 5 extended to the Eglinton GO station (preferably elevated, since it would have to travel over the Line 2 Scarborough extension). Then you could just run an express bus along Kingston Rd & Morningside Ave between both ends of the line...

    Ottawa Transit Developments

More issues discovered with the axles in the Citadis Spirits. The axels are quite literately flaking/ crumbling as the trains move. At some point this line will have to be converted to run a more "tried and tested" rolling stock.
