    Lost Road: Indian Line Road

It was pretty cool, but I kick myself now for not taking photos. I guess it was always there for me, and I never thought about it being gone until it was. I must have used it hundreds of times.

    Lost Road: Indian Line Road

Yes, the railway bridge, and I forgot that it did route that way. I guess we'll never know if they considered running over the dam or not, but it was a bit odd that they left the Bailey Bridge for so long. You are probably right that they left it knowing that eventually 427 would push up there...

    Lost Road: Indian Line Road

So I realized after looking closely at aerial photos of Indian Line at Claireville, that my assumptions about the bridges there were wrong. I had thought that the Indian Line bridge was washed out by Hurricane Hazel in October 1954 and replaced by the Bailey Bridge that I was so familiar with...

Bathurst Street gap, Holland Marsh/East Gwillimbury

Awesome. I live in Newmarket, and sadly never explored there.

    Humberline bridge...?

I have updated my research on Humberline Drive here: http://lostontario.ca/?p=141

    Lost Road: Indian Line Road

I'm still looking for any photos of the Bailey Bridge over the Humber at Claireville. I can't find any photos and don't have any myself, although I used to drive over it regularly.

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

No - they are using it as a parking lot for the foreseeable future.

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

Actually the stubborn old girl (taken today) is ALMOST gone!!!

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

This week - the old tower is SOLID. It's going to take a while to bring her down! I am amazed by the fact that they somehow put a backhoe on the roof and are systematically destroying each floor UNDERNEATH the machine! I'm sure they know what they are doing, but that would freak me out. What if...

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

I'll find some of the old archived photos and post them. If there was any asbestos I probably breathed more in and got more in my eyes watching the demolition than I'll ever get off a piece of concrete - lol :)

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

Put together a quick 'Then & Now' image of 1965 construction of Constellation Hotel and yesterday (Oct 2011) demolition photo.

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

I stopped by the Constellation today to take some photos which you can view here. I managed to find a cool souvenir - a small fragment that must have bounced over the fence. The cool part is that it is a fragment of the outside painted wall of the old tower!

Hyatt Regency Toronto Airport (Regal Constellation site)

Passed by the Constellation this week and saw that all that was left was the elevator shaft of the new wing and most of the old tower - she is of course much tougher. A sad day for me. I looked over at it every single day on the way to work coming down the 427 for over 20 years. I attended one...

    Year end questions - buildings

Finally this week, complete demolition is happening on the Constellation Hotel. Apparently a potential sale is in the works after another bankruptcy. The poor hotel has been rejected and tossed back and forth since 2003 and I was starting to compare it to the Bayview Ghost. This week all that...

    Humberline bridge...?

That is awesome! Memories of Mississauga as it looked when I lived there!

    Humberline bridge...?

Wish I had taken photos. Back then it was taken for granted that things were the way they were, and I guess we did not think about progress :) Today I sometimes feel goofy taking pictures of everyday streets and stuff, but think about how things change and that it might be nice to have a record...

    Humberline bridge...?

OK, trying to dig into my aging memory banks to recall my experiences in this area. I lived in the Clarkson/Lorne Park area of Mississauga from 1976 to 1980 and then Rexdale from 1984 to 1990 so most of my experience in the 'Claireville' area is from then. I recall when the 427 only went north...

    Humberline bridge...?

Thanks Lone Primate for the photos. Yes, clearly there was no bridge in the recent past, but I still wonder a bit about farther back, before we have any aerial images. On another note, it is the Bailey Bridge in the 1965 aerial photo - I am still looking for any archive photos of it from the...

    Humberline bridge...?

It could have been a ford at that point - yes.

    Humberline bridge...?

Interesting nfitz. While I thought that concessions/lines were often just put on maps even if they were not continuous, the map you posted shows several with dotted lines, while the Humberline one is clearly continuous across the river. It really does not make much sense to me to have any road...
