IIRC, all the streetlights were replaced in the late 80s and the thinking at that time was to maintain the classic look. The poles on Bay are an eyesore, left over from the days of the trolley buses. The poles and streetlights ow belong to Toronto Hydro, so it's up to them to replace them.

If I recall my reatailing days correctly, we were contractually obligated to sell the tickets at the price the TTC determined. The store's profit was around 2%. A TTC agent would deliver the tickets weekly, and expected cash on delivery. Overall selling the tickets was a pain in the side given...
