    Yorkdale Shopping Centre

The Pickle Barrel is one of those places you go when meeting up with friends (but not close friends) and you all can't agree on a place. They have a bit of everything on the menu, but nothing good. Wasn't always like that though, for those that remember the original Jewish restaurant at...

I'm sure you would see Toronto doing something too if there were altercations and street racing at the Distillery Christmas Market.

Matty should bring The Bear's Italian Beef sandwich to Toronto. Marq's is not as good.

    Hudson's Bay Company

The soul of HBC is with Canadian Tire now. Hope they take good care of it. The corpse of HBC is whatever numbered company they became and it doesn't matter to them who buys their remaining leases, as long as they get money back to pay their debtors. The only ones who care about the reputation...

    Costco

You'll probably be only able to lug a few of their supersized items home with you on the TTC.

    Hudson's Bay Company

Whoever ends up with the Hudson's Bay IP should be partnering with Fairmont to sell the blankets and other striped merchandise from their hotel gift shops. Hell, they should be outfitting rooms with striped pillows, blankets, etc.

Consider yourself lucky. I saw reviews were good but it was horrible when I tried it last summer. Then I realized all the good reviews were from before the new owners/renovation. Just make the trek over to Olde Yorke.

I also have suspicions about that Swiss Chalet chain.

Guess this won't be part of the revitalization: https://www.thestar.com/news/gta/the-fixer/strange-structure-in-playground-has-unusual-link-to-school-fixer/article_fe1d0810-bb19-5143-813e-fb3f84ecafe4.html

It's just a fancy name for a Food Court and there should be one food court for every office tower/complex.

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

Even on Mondays and Fridays the McDonald's are busier than any of the other food court outlets, and those are mostly young professionals lining up (or rather, waiting for their number to be called after they ordered through the app).

News on retail chains (was: New Mall Retail)

Go see how busy a McDs is in the downtown core food courts is during lunch hour. They've adapted quite well. Can't say the same for KFC. Popeye's has taken over as the dominant fried chicken chain, at least in Toronto.

This would hurt more if places such as MImi/Sunny's and Sue Fong didn't come along in recent years. LWH was the pinnacle of Chinese cuisine in Toronto in its day.

    Innovation/Automation in Retail

Tried it at the Eaton Centre location. I found that it detected items before I had put them in the bin. Not a big deal but I would prefer if their iPad would display a picture of the item instead of the name though so I could easily verify it wasn't detecting items that somebody passing by was...

Don't they mean re-entering the Canadian market? Or did Retail Insider forget they had stores here before?

Alexander McQueen stores exist in luxury malls in HK and China. I suspect much of Yorkdale's recent success at reinventing themselves as a luxury destination is due to the Asian market here anyway.
