Toronto Rental Cost (& AirBnB) Issues

The obvious problem in today's rental housing market, is that unlike decades ago, it is now dominated by non-professional landlords. And I wouldn't rent from a non-professional landlord for the same reason I wouldn't see a non-professional dentist. As for the LTB….remember...it's simply a...

    Parkdale Village

For sure it's the worst No Frills in Ontario. I mean, it makes other No Frills seem like they have a few frills. At least the basement turned into a Dollarama, so you can slum-shop all in the same location. Roncy has acquired all the good little food stores, which is Parkdale adjacent. For...

    2018 Ontario Provincial Election Discussion

It's all nonsense, as nobody involved thinks the imaginary "centre" is a more ideal position over their actual position.

The Beer Store: Political Reasons to Keep/Kill It

A federation of fiefdoms to be precise. I think because we live in provinces, we don't realize just how different they are from other sub-national entities. I think the government should continue to control and distribute the booze and gambling rackets in the province as it puts the money in...

    Toronto Macdonald Block Reconstruction | ?m | ?s | Infrastructure ON | WZMH

This is good to hear, as this represents an era of quality and art investment you simply do not see any more. This is tax dollars very well invested and this province was on a roll (what the fack happened to us??). The amount of Canadian artwork commissioned into this complex originally is...

    Toronto 64 Prince Arthur | 46.1m | 13s | Forgestone | RAW Design

I think Prince Arthur qualifies as a highrise appropriate periphery street that does not interfere with the context of the SFD housing of the inner grid of Annex streets. We need more projects like this geared towards keeping the moneyed downtown.

It's a shame they couldn't have aquired that unfortunate homunculus on the north-west corner of Yonge & Wellington and put the tower there. That way the loss of CCE & CCS would have transformed the court into something quite impressively civic minded, rather than the closed private setting it...

    Toronto 191 Bay | 301.74m | 64s | QuadReal | Hariri Pontarini

I quite like Pei's design of the complex and court. His rather Ericksonesque CC East & CC South are an excellent foyle to his minimalist sleek tower and the baroque CC North. They added the right closure and scale for the court...well proportioned and designed. Sadly, it did not confront...

    Edwards and Toronto Botanical Gardens

The City of Toronto has already decided that cutting the grass is too expensive, let alone planting flowers.

So whom am I jealous of exactly... Yorkdale for having a Drake store? Drake for having a store? People who think Drake merch is cool?

Yes it does work like that. You get certified as an in-house MLEO (businesses that conduct parking enforcement solely on their properties to ensure their parking facilities are being used only by their patrons, members, employees, or tenants), and you issue actual City parking infraction...

    Toronto Yorkdale Shopping Centre | ?m | ?s | Oxford Properties | MMC Architecture

Outlaw "free" parking, and people might be encouraged to use public transit instead. It boggles my mind how people will spend an hour trying to find a parking spot at Yorkdale (or even give up and go away). It's only a matter of time before that sea of a parking lot has to be developed.

This sort of cheating is an illegal offense and disrespectful of people's property. Stop being a cheating deadbeat and pay your fair share. FYI...PPEAs/MLEOs do issue City of Toronto tickets. The deadbeats I catch in my parking lot ALWAYS get towed. $30 tickets are waaaaaaay too cheap of a...

Perhaps the existing subway station might offer a solution?

    Parkdale Village

I think the idea is that only the deadbeats who are supported by the tax dollars of these people are entitled to complain. And of course, if it weren't for real estate investors, these deadbeats would have nowhere to live at all, as someone has to "own" the property.

The only problem I see, is how the media is exploiting the whole housing issue in Toronto.

What's the problem...the city is full of "renos from hell" stories. Parkdale renos just have a higher incidence of crackhead removal. :p

    Parkdale Village

I never said it stupid to live in Parkdale....I said it was full of stupid people (and I'm not referring to the mentally ill, which we have a world class number of as well). Don't worry...all they have to do is keep up with their "rent strike", and they will be vacating. ;)

    Parkdale Village

Looks more like a protester jumping in front of a truck. As a Parkdalian, I can attest to the world class number of residents with low IQs. Not paying your rent will have one of two outcomes...you are evicted and now face much higher market rents than you had, or you end up paying the rent you...
