Community meeting tonight was okay. Nothing new, just updating the community on the end of the working group (thanks NA’s!), the OLT process, and provided some space for people to say the development doesn’t fit with the local character despite similar high rises to the north and further south...

The NA’s have lawyered up to stop the development outright. The irony of one of the NA heads saying “I don’t like being called a rich NIMBY, it’s not true and not fair” then doing exactly what rich NIMBY’s do is incredibly funny.

Thanks so much for that info. So glad to see this moving forward despite all the NIMBY nonsense opposing it.

I think Councilor Carrol mentioned this one is also been brought to the OLT?

The city planners mentioned that the proponent was already in a position to go this route so I assume it was the proponent.

The email to the working group members doesn’t indicate who appealed. It does say that Councillor Carroll will be hosting a virtual information session next month so maybe we’ll find out by then. Also, A Request for Direction Report is targeted for the May 24, 2022 meeting of North York...

Would it be too much for me to put my own sign up on my lawn that says “your shitty McMansions are INAPPROPRIATE for our neighbourhood”? Lol

Ya sorry this sign is for the other project. They had a sign for Tyndale too but took it down it looks like.

I’m actually seeing houses that used to have the high density signs up no longer have them up. I wonder why that is. There are at least 4 houses that no longer have them on their lawn. Maybe the group didn’t get actual permission?

Oh I legit adore the style of houses in the neighbourhood/area. If anything derserves signs going up protesting it’s the McMansions going up. I’ll try and get some pics of those too as I know if at least 1-2 that have signs up about this and/or the finch tridel development ...

I stopped to take this one, you can see they back onto the apartments on the south East corner of Bayview and steeles. So they know how terrible these new apartments will really be! So bad they moved right next to some!

I’ve already flagged for Carrol’s office, that’s how I got the last batch of signs taken down. Their approach has been to work with the “Neighbourhood Association” to take them down voluntarily before bylaw gets involved. A bunch have already been taken down by other residents too.

Ya those units are quite pricy, the ones on Cummer and Ruddington are reasonably priced though. 3 bedroom is about $2k per month.
