It makes no sense for logistical reasons too. A convention centre is a giant windowless building (except for the lobby and maybe some breakout rooms and management offices on the side). You need to bring in vans and trucks for catering and for convention set-ups and take-downs (displays, booths...
There’s an interesting article in the Star today that spills some tea on how Brad Bradford is seen among the Family Compact elite who backed Lastman and Tory. They really don’t like the guy...
As I mentioned on BlueSky, the owners of the apiary profiled in the Star article have a property very close to Highway 417, southeast of Vankleek Hill.
If there’s one thing that’s more destructive to farmers and especially bee keepers, it’s four separated lanes of rural freeway.
I’m convinced that Michael Ford was born with FAS (both his parents are complete messes) and so I’m a little bit sympathetic towards him but he has no business being in serious politics. He’s only there because he’s in that family (and still had to change his name) and offers no qualifications...
Yeah. The completion of the TCH across Newfoundland in the 1960s as a high quality two lane highway doomed the railway as a viable operation though it lingered on another two decades. The 100-series highways in Nova Scotia did the same there, with the exception of the CN mainline to Halifax...
“I’ve got this wonderful idea for the Kelso Conservation Area! The owner of the Country Heritage Park called me and said he’d love to host the CNE and the Winter Fair, but needs more land to do it!”
Duffs is definitely better than most chicken wings places, including the Toronto locations. The older location on Bayview is still going. But it probably wasn’t the best location for it anymore given the competition and the commercial rents.
Ford want to shove the convention centre to Exhibition Place? It’s not the worst idea (and it fits with his obsession with that part of Toronto), but there are lot of questions that it raises for me.
One, MTCC has by far the best transit access in the GTHA, including UP Express. The CNE...

I’d assume the Northlander will run bidirectional like VIA’s Venture trainsets so the wye is moot. (It did use the TMC wye in the pre-2012 era.)
The only train now that I can think of that requires the wye is the Amtrak equipment used on the Maple Leaf.
Reopening this thread; please focus general discussion on Iran, etc. here, keeping the Carney and Trump threads more focused on their own actions and policy.
Again, please keep things civil, respectful, and thoughtful.
I took another round trip on Thursday afternoon, which was completely uneventful. Travel times are more consistent (when it's running, unlike Friday morning), and the station dwell times are certainly improved. But I concur with others here that the Alstom Citalis trams run rough compared to the...
I can see that, with higher track speeds and a lot fewer stations. Even if Line 5 was a full subway, going through Union would be faster.
The only downsides is the hourly off peak ST service, no counter peak service and the painful transfer between GO and UPX, with no fare integration between...
Is that fitness centre on the ground floor a tenant amenity, or a proposed commercial tenant (i.e. Planet Fitness or Goodlife)? It's unusual to have it on a main floor like that if it was only for resident use.
