The difference being the Chicago towers are designed to be interesting while many Toronto towers are forced by zoning bylaws to have the sloped roof therefore the look in Toronto may seem contrived.

I just love and adore that old building and its restoration makes me very happy! It was in a desolate location ad the city grew around it and cherished it.
