GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

A bridge connecting the north side platforms to the east side of Trafalgar exists presently. So your suggestion to add from an elevated section of the parking garage makes sense. Or a parallel bridge across Trafalgar from the south side tracks in anticipation of the developments to take place at...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

I would 100% concur re London. And when busses move and you combine that with subway and streetcar, you have a system vastly superior then one person/one car. But you need Doug Ford to stop clowning around in these periphery issues - beer, liquor, license plates etc and demonstrate a higher...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Drum, with due respect, that No Frills, previously a Dominion Store, now an Asian Grocery (in part) is a hike from the train, it’s part of the redeveloped Home Depot plaza, with the remnants of that mall dating to the 50’s. So the other side of Cross Ave, closer to the QEW. And I believe part of...

    LCBO / The Beer Store

If domestics can bypass the lcbo and sell directly, unless other regulations preclude it, we may finally see “Buck a Beer”? And secondly, with private label wines, are we really not just thinking of the same concept as we see in neighbourhood grocery stores now, with their wine outlets?

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I would slightly disagree with you on the parking aspect. Often, accessing the Fairview GO station requires a car, there is no public transit north of the 407 in Burlington. Yes I could drive to the nearest bus stop, but where to park? I could ride my bike but that is a longish ride -although...

University Avenue (History and Future Redesign)

Hopefully they are projecting greater then 'normal' travel volumes. Again in Montreal I believe I have seen comparable widths and physical separations, certainly not everywhere. I know they exist, because once, on a dark, rainy night, I briefly entered the bike lane by mistake, and my vehicle...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

Re Walmart and Burlington. I asked around and you are quite correct. This project and project location were fought by the city and I gather with pretty mixed opinions from the general populace related to traffic (which is an issue in the area, and growing, and to be fair, also around the COSTCO...

    Toronto Media Landscape and Personalities

That might last until P.P. takes power as the more rancid elements of his group have vowed to reduce the CBC to zilch.

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

And yet, there are existing towers next to the Fairview station, with additional towers underway. Plus plans to redevelop the old nursery site of Garden Gallery in easy walking distance to the east with further towers. And further east surrounding the Appleby Station you have major development...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

They could probably save themselves some time by walking to the western end of the parking lot and peering over the edge…..still, one of the most underdeveloped sites, with all of that spin-off potential along the western perimeters for density housing with great views and (potential) access to...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

I agree and yet I hope not. To be fair to VIA, they cannot be everywhere, on every route. But where the vast majority population of Canada lives, why yes, lets see some money spent on making the service better, faster, even if only in incremental steps. And i would be confident that as the...

    Oakville 157 Cross Avenue | 203.5m | 61s | Distrikt Group | Teeple Architects

Its too bad we do not have a thread on Midtown Oakville Redevelopment - there is a lot of proposed development for this area, and the Town is heavily involved in planning. On a local blurb, a report came through on the recent (mostly positive) feedback to revised proposals on the overall...

    Burlington Appleby GO West | ?m | 45s | Alinea | Diamond Schmitt

I get a kick out of these renders, everything looks just so nice! And Drum is going to love it, because as opposed to Brightwater, these are towers, and the towers are everywhere. It looks as if the city walls are being built to keep our the heathens. I guess at at some point there will be...

GO Transit: Construction Projects (Metrolinx, various)

I am assuming that as they did not 'shimmy' Burloak to one side or the other (for which there is plenty of room, especially the eastern side) they are still planning on closing Burloak for a period of time (at some point) to complete the bridge.

    Streetcar Tracks on Adelaide

Creating usable areas for service vehicles to park is consistently overlooked. So we can either provide better options, or require, as the Bell Truck has complied with, better 'signage' of their presence. Assuming that the Bell truck had no other reasonable alternatives, and then whether you are...

Lack of meaningful Passenger Rail service outside the Quebec-Windsor Corridor

The bottom line is that there must be a business case/budgetary case that somehow supports any political decision. You can craft that case in Southern Ontario and the GTA with more ease and conviction than N. Ontario. I am a rail transit supporter and a previous resident of N Ontario, but I have...

    Mississauga Brightwater | 35s | Kilmer + Dream + FRAM + Slokker + Peel Housing Corp | GPA + TF

I am quite aware that good transit requires some level of density. West of the Credit River good transit will be hamstrung by the fact that all transit is funneled though one bridge - car, truck, pedestrian and cyclist. (Unless , of course, GO builds a Port Credit West GO station at Mississauga...

This vote will not happen south of the border. If anything, more the opposite.

    Mississauga Brightwater | 35s | Kilmer + Dream + FRAM + Slokker + Peel Housing Corp | GPA + TF

Not sure there is anything inherently wrong with 6 stories - there are plenty of very livable cities with 3-4-5-6 story buildings..it’s not like Mississauga has not and does not build towers. Railing on about height restrictions can be a bit of a knee jerk reaction at times I believe.
