    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

While the federal government technically holds the power of disallowance to block provincial legislation, it’s unlikely the Liberals would use it here. They stand to gain little and would likely face backlash from federal Conservatives for perceived overreach.... oh wait :D While the federal...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

There's a lot of variation in bike lane designs across the city, with some looking more permanent than others. My understanding is that when we see concrete barriers similar to those used in parking lots, combined with flexible posts, they are "temporary" and meant to be replaced with better...

    Cycling infrastructure (Separated bike lanes)

It would be interesting to see if there's an opportunity to give both sides what they want. If the city can provide plans that maintains both the protected bike lanes, and restores the traffic lanes, would the province pay for it? For example, removing the parking lane on University would add a...

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Barring an extraordinary outcome in the next federal election, the next occupant of the PMO is likely to support extending Billy Bishop’s runways to accommodate jets. With a challenge from Ford unlikely, does the City have any way to combat this? I don't see how jets won't be flying out of YTZ...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

This installation has highlighted just how much Love Park could benefit from landscape lighting to showcase its design. There should be spotlights to illuminate the tree on the island, perimeter lighting along the edge of the pond, and perhaps uplighting for the larger, older trees. The trim...

    Toronto Union Station Revitalization | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | NORR

This is actually a pretty valid point. The subway is a major point of entry into Union by regulars and visitors, there really should be schedule boards for all forms of travel out of Union visible upon entering the building. They could have a dedicated screen for each set of departures and their...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

Spotted today that the pond has been refilled with water, it has that freshly filled clear look for now.

Not sure how "legitimate" this change was, but walking by this afternoon, I noticed someone had spilled a little of whatever product was used:

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Tapping the same card twice on GO triggers a tap error. I imagine the TTC fare gates do the same thing within the same station?

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Just set mine up! Sadly it doesn't seem you can assign your Presto Card to both your phone and Apple Watch, only one or the other. I could see this as being a way to prevent pass sharing, but it feels like an odd choice when it could be super convenient to have both as an option.

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

The trellis at one point was meant to potentially house a small cafe. Also in the earlier designs there wasn't raised seating along the perimeter, with the concept of skating or other winter programming within the pond. More recent cut would be lining the pond with rocks. The final design had...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Both the main Apple Wallet and FAQ pages were captured by archive.org on December 17th. It may take a short amount of time to load: https://web.archive.org/web/20231217015757/https://prestocard.prestoiits1.net/en/about/presto-in-mobile-wallet/apple#buy-a-new-card...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

I think it's pretty clear they pulled back on the year round water plan. The entire summer and fall that the park has been open, the water level observed in the pond was the "winter" level, never approaching the higher summer line that's meant to go right up to the red tiling. This is pretty...

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

I don't know how accurate this is, but in the reddit post it was mentioned that the card stores balance and pass values. If both the physical card and the phone pass card are used concurrently, they could become unsynchronized. Additionally, it's logical to restrict the card's use to prevent...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

The lack of detailed landscape lighting is disappointing. I was surprised to see there was no lighting on the pond island, no lighting at the bases of the trellis, or any kind of illumination in or around the pond itself. What we have seems pretty basic and to meet the minimum requirements...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

That depends on the size of drone. Anything above 250 grams would have issues flying south of Bloor in most of the city due to proximity to Billy Bishop and heliports. Below 250 grams, and it's a micro-drone that you're allowed to essentially fly anywhere as long as it isn't in a reckless...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

It's open! There are a few crews both finishing up and enjoying the shade. The off-leash dog space is still fenced off and there's work still in progress around the pond support building. The official city park sign designates it as "Love Park". It's visible at the corner of...

    Toronto Love Park | 3m | 1s | City of Toronto | CCxA

I was wondering about this as well. The project renders do show stones covering the entire pond. Could it still be planned? There were a few pallets of materials still at the site yesterday, and they've drained the pond to do more work around the water inlets along the perimeter. Perhaps they...
