TTC: Flexity Streetcars Testing & Delivery (Bombardier)

4528 seems to be out this morning either in service (finally), or perhaps doing an in service test. It's signed as a 504 this morning and at Dufferin Loop when I last checked.

It's "the cheapening" at a new and unprecedented level! Even for Toronto.

Curious exactly how much money or time they saved by re-using the frame of the old storage place in the new building. It seems like it would be a liability to have that old structure in there. Interesting to note that the BMW office across the road did the same thing many years ago.

4573 finally showed up on the Nextbus feeds tonight. Currently sitting at Leslie Barns.

    King Street (Streetcar Transit Priority)

Nothing short of enforcement cameras, a cop literally standing there with a ticket pad in hand or a strong physical barrier would stop people who see all the signs and just don't care. Even with those measures, you'll still get some entitled drivers who would just go around them, claim ignorance...

Sneaky. 4573 has yet to show up on Nextbus for whatever reason.

Those temp offices hanging off the side are a "nope-nope-nope" for me. They have to be a little bit un-nerving to work in.

@drum118 Do you know if the poles and associated equipment are able to be "easily" removed down the line when they are no longer needed?

Neat tour and pics, thanks! I was looking at some stuff from the Confederation Line in Ottawa and they dug a single tunnel with both directions rather than one tunnel for each. You can see it here in this video timelapse of the line: Makes for a different feel than the single tunnels and feels...

Seems heat is a bigger issue than cold although both are manageable according to the info linked below. In cold, the curing process itself generates heat sufficient to keep things within the required range assuming it's a big pour and you do some insulation around the forms and exposed areas...

Nice to see the white panels going in now that will start to define the facets better. I'm hopeful looking at the various cutouts and angles on the concrete balconies and other little concrete details that we'll get what the renders show.

Quick PS job to extend the cornice to the edge of the new build.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

People have paid a premium for the 143/144 buses for years. Whether the 900 series express are at that level, probably not. All I was saying is that being all in on Presto makes it easier for the TTC to explore some of these additional fare options including premium routes, zones and off-peak...

Another pic (not mine!) showing damage to the front open side. I can't make out a car number.

Flexity involved in a collision with an auto on St. Clair this evening. No idea on the damage yet but twitter post suggests the car derailed. Not sure what the number is.

    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

Presto opens up a lot of new avenues for the TTC to encourage different usage patterns. Both peak fares (higher fares during rush hours) and zones would be doable. Peak fares is likely the easier of the two since we don't have a tap off system or habits. The subway might be a good place to start...
