Get on & off the bullet train without the train stopping

This system would also only warrant a small number of customers boarding at each station. The loading car is about 1/10 of the size of the entire train, and about 1/4 the height. There's a tight fit for you.

    GO Richmond Hill Line

Apparently Metrolinx has purchased the section of CP's Belleville sub from Leaside to Cherry St. (which CP was originally planning to decommission), as it is the only way to connect to the future Peterborough line. Also, the CP tracks on the West side of Don Mills and North of Eglinton...

    GO Richmond Hill Line

Don't forget to read above posts to make sure you're not repeating the same information I don't know what route you've been riding, but the double track is only between York Mills and Leslie. The double track doesn't even extend all the way to Oriole Station... nevermind Old Cummer. Oriole...

    GO Richmond Hill Line

It also is quite the scenic route (through the Don Valley) especially during the fall months.

    Toronto's waterfront reimagined

I see a few problems; people may not be willing to walk the distance to get to the patios and restaurants. no mention of ferry access to the islands? people near the end of the runway may get an unexpected hair cut by the q400s.

Miller turns to TTC public address system to get riders on board with funding push

Is it just me or is Miller a good candidate to be the next Mark Dailey? (for those who remember the Great Movie segways) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ezO789RBqd8&feature=related

    GO Richmond Hill Line

Google Earth pegs Oriole at 400m. It is owned by CN, and is part of the Bala Sub, of which both the Ontario Northlander and VIA (Toronto-Vancouver) also operate on. It is single tracked mainly from downtown to York Mills, then doubled to Leslie, single to York Sub., then double the rest of the...

    Camping on Centre Island?

In regards to the islands, I know some Scout groups camp on the Snake Island, although I believe they obtain special permission to do so.

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

Highway 69 in many sections has been in need of upgrades/repairs for quite some time now. An extension of the 404 along with the Bradford Bypass would allow for an alternate route while also connecting the Eastern GTA with the North, which would take some pressure off of the central section of...

    Roads: Ontario/GTA Highways Discussion

The 400 is being built to Sudbury. A new section was opened late last year just south of Sudbury (about a 40km stretch)... and the rest of the distance between that extension and Parry Sound is either being constructed or still undergoing EA. The 404 I believe is supposed to begin construction...

    A Ravine Promenade

Most structures are built to withstand the power of a 100-year flood. Paths aren't built to this standard however, as they are normally under-built until flooding occurs.

Perhaps Toronto West Detention could offer some "volunteers".

Rob Ford wants to terminate the "War on Cars"....

He cites that city vehicles such as Garbage trucks and Snowplows are damaged, and that it slows general traffic. My main concern would be that it slows the emergency services. I'm surprised that nobody has sued the city yet for endangering their lives by having the bumps. (or have they?)

Rob Ford wants to terminate the "War on Cars"....

Well it could... if the 905 gets to vote for the 416.

    Monorail for Toronto

!! Completely replacing existing infrastructure and building new is cheaper than simply using the existing infrastructure?! For LRT, the system would simply need overhead wires. For subway, either changing the guage (and making the entire system compatible) or new (standard guage) vehicles...

Roads: Keep the Gardiner, fix it, or get rid of it? (2005-2014)

Me thinks this idea already has it's own thread... http://urbantoronto.ca/showthread.php?9516-A-roof-on-the-Gardiner

    Littered ontario highways

They probably are using the same idea as the hydro companies which only plow the fields when the grass becomes a fire risk.

    Monorail for Toronto

Don't you know we're being green by re-using vehicles?
