    Wayfinding signage ideas

Since the TTC advisory panel is actually taking email suggestions, I've decided to email them about improving wayfinding and making the information more coherent. What do you guys think about my photoshopped examples? Are they clear or do they spew too much information at once? How these...

    TTC Metropass - Hot Dealz

Whenever I see the Z in Hot Dealz on the subway...it annoys me. Anyone else lol

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

http://wearesuperficial.com/en/viva Some "lol" worthy pictures of preliminary plans for VIVA. Apparently the lines were supposed to be named after fruit. viva blue was supposed to be called viva berry (pink colored) purple ~ plum (purple colored) green ~ kiwi (green colored) orange ~ banana...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

I think this is in preparation of making bus routes fully accessible. That's why it's taking so long for YRT to become accessible, even though a majority of the fleet is low floor.

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

I LOVE YRT's customer service! I can email them and get a response within 3 days guarenteed. Sometimes I'll receive an acknowledgement that the email has been received. Other times, the message will enter through customer service, get to the department I enquired about, and I'll receive...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

As a rider of YRT pre-VIVA rider, I think they deliberately slowed down the YRT buses to make VIVA buses appear relatively faster. I remember YRT buses would literally fly down Highway 7 like maniacs in the past.

    Mystery Toronto Subway Lines?

    Transit City: Sheppard East Debate

Does anyone know what the Transit City design standard for shelters is? Will stations look like St Clair LRT? Will the stations have dinky bus-shelter like structures or more elaborate structures like the ones for VIVA?

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

Here's a rendering of York Region's new rapid transit vehicle. Is it me or are there lights on the ceiling of the bus as well?

    Wayfinding signage ideas

And I absolutly hate hte TTC's idea of cramming intersections. It takes a while to actually interpret this in your head. "Queen Street West South Side, University Avenue West Side, Streetcars Eastbound" When this would make so much more sense. "Queen St. W. & University Ave. (SE Corner)"

    Wayfinding signage ideas

I thought I'd create a thread where you guys can post ideas / drawings to improves TTC signage. What do you guys think of this? Concepts copied from Hong Kong ;) I found their wayfinding system absolutely easy to use. No useless logos of staircases when it was obvious there were stairs...

    TTC: Stations that Need Improvements

Original 1954 subway (with the exception of Bloor/Eglinton) What were they thinking when they renovated these stations in the 80s? I can't believe we got rid of glistening vitrolite for that crap. Terrazo Flooring Stop using white/grey terrazo flooring. The smallest stain is clearly visible...

New look for the Victoria Park subway station (Brown and Storey)

No they aren't going to retile Vic Park. They are going to sandblast a tree root design into the existing tile however. Pape Station, on the other hand, is going to be retiled completely at platform level. I hate this. The Bloor Danforth line's unique aesthetic has always, to me, defined...

Dark subway car in regular service

It'd be an even largest waste if they took the entire train out of service for a problem with one car. Usually one car is shut off when someone vomited inside or something like that.

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

They didn't even bother bidding on the Request For Proposal. -I don't think they were able to meet the 25% Canadian content criteria (which was needed to secure provincial/federal/not sure which one subsidies) -I don't think they have a model that has "advanced propulsion technology"...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

York Region has selected Novabus to supply the next generation of VIVA buses. (pending council approval) Apparently New Flyer did not even meet the 25% Canadian content criteria. O_O

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

The new Berczy Unionville goes right by my house too! Never in my dreams did I ever think YRT buses would be running down our residential streets. The first time I tried it, there were 0 riders. Second time, 2 riders. The third time, 10 riders. So hopefully ridership continues to grow as more...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

Instead of curving the Don Mills LRT east on Steeles, north on Warden to Downtown Markham. How about extending the Finch LRT east from Don Mills, then north on Warden or Kennedy to Downtown Markham? I find it odd that the Finch LRT abruptly ends at Don Mills. This arrangement makes it more...

York Region Transit: Viva service thread

The vivaNext shelters for the dedicated bus lanes will have a fully enclosed space that is heated, with a pull/push door to the side for access. It was confirmed today, thank god! You guys should see the garbage VIVA shelters they currently have. It's nice VIVA actually takes customer concerns...
