The ol' "you think I'm bad? Just wait til the next guy shows up" tactic. I live about a block from this location and I can't say it bothers me at the current height; but then again no one is staring down into my backyard. People do desperately want to live here in Leaside, and I don't doubt it...

Still digging. From 5th floor of Sick Kids. First post from phone so sorry for any misformats.

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

No question it will impact condo sales. Single detached, probably not. Local demand for houses is high enough, IMO.

It appears that construction on the Walmart plaza north of Wicksteed is resuming. Equipment has been arriving on site for the past couple of weeks.

An interesting angle from across the Don Valley. Unfortunately some trees in the way, but it's not a common angle, so I figured I'd post it. 1BE is dominant from every angle.

I could see the church site becoming a Keesmaat-championed mid-rise building. The road kind of fits the avenue description to some extent. Lack of precedent may hurt height, but if they can put 8 floors at Millwood and Laird, this sure fits the bill.

I noticed the Whole Foods being built now says Shoppers Drug Mart coming. Does that mean the one south of Eglinton is moving? Seems unnecessary to have two so close to each other, along with a Rexall at Sunnybrook Plaza and a Pharmaplus on Moore and a pharmacy in the Loblaws on Redway.

I'm curious for how long the block of low-rises between Church and this project will survive. Might not be easy to assemble the site from all the disparate parts, but it's ripe for the picking. Are there any buildings that would be difficult to purchase and demolish?

I'm not unhappy with the Costco decision. We go to Costco quite a bit, so it will be nice to have one close by, but we never used the gas station. It still baffles me that people are willing to idle their cars for 20 minutes in order to save $3 on gasoline.

My brother-in-law is a crane operator and he says safety issues plague the industry. Things tend to be better with the larger builders but the smaller guys are terrible at enforcing safety measures. He's pretty sure someone will get killed on a site he's working on at some point in the future...

Surprisingly excellent. The asymmetry rescues it from glass box plain-ness.

The site looks excavated but nothing is going on. No crane. What are they waiting for?

I live a block away from here. I'll provide updates whenever something of interest occurs. Nothing going on on the site as far as I can tell.

Interesting. Don't know anything about that brand. Could be worth a shot. Looks like they have one other location at Bay and College. The call themselves "fast-premium", I guess along the Chipotle vein. I guess they'll fit in nicely between the pizza chains on one end and Via Napoli on the...

It will be fascinating to see how this will get built. The building itself has a bit of a Four Seasons-y vibe to it, with 1/3 of the building being thicker than the rest. I'm definitely looking forward to the updates.

Looks close to move-in time for the lower units, if it hasn't started already. This project was launched for sales at the end of 2008, if I remember correctly. Buyers had to wait 7 years to move in. I'm curious, is there some metric somewhere about what the average build time is for a condo in T.O.?

Anyone going to the Georgia Walsh fundraiser today? We're taking the kids, plus some relatives that happen to be in town. Should be interesting. They are trying to raise $1 million to replace the Trace Manes park playground. They are around $6000 so far, so I don't see it happening unless a...
