Surface parking? Seriously? As for height and density, I suspect that they are aiming higher than what they really expect to build. This is the normal game they play, so I'm not too attached to these proposed numbers.

Last report said it was doing very well. Much better than expected. I'd be curious to see updated numbers.

My understanding was that the funds were going to the Rail Deck park and that expropriation would be much more expensive than previously thought. Is this not correct? source: http://www.metronews.ca/news/toronto/2016/09/05/toronto-fund-two-new-downtown-parks.html Cressy himself wants Rail...

I think the park idea is dead. It will see a development proposal soon enough.

    Old City Hall Proposals

The marble is much nicer than the original. It's no contest.

Yup. For a forum like this to succeed we need to focus on the thing we all supposedly care about--development of this great city. I know for sure that I have some values and opinions that run counter to the majority here, but I didn't come to a development forum to push them on people.

It was installed a few weeks ago. I hope you're right. Since Allied has talked a bit about negotiations with developers, I assume CF is also in talks as tenants shop around.

A little over 480,000 sf. Not very big, but potentially very nice. I don't like that it's open air. On a cold day I like to escape the elements.

    Toronto 422 Wellington West | 14.33m | 2s | Allied | ERA Architects

I think it's been discussed somewhere, but if the City were to zone certain districts ahead of time, could it not make everything more efficient? It would mean developers don't go through Planning, but just get permits. Many OMB appeals would be unnecessary, and some not allowed. They could go...

Let's not assume this is a truthful accounting of Brad Lamb's words. Is there any reason why Lamb might act this way? Is the City acting unreasonable? I'd like more info before I take a side. (Although this is the internet, so perhaps I should just take a side and get angry...)

Toronto non-mall retail (Odds & Ends)

There appears to be something happening on the outside of the Jordan store. Exterior renovations maybe.

It looks like restoration work is underway, unless it's something else they're doing.

TTC: Cherry Street reconstruction and streetcar trackage (City of Toronto/TTC, U/C)

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/some-corktown-residents-want-514-streetcar-yanked-until-noisy-tracks-fixed-1.3835540 Is this as big a problem as the people in the article claim? Is this streetcar line in danger of being halted?

Although this proposal is for the 60 acre property, there are also adjacent parking lots near by, and underutilized property near by. I wonder if this new transit hub will drive development beyond this particular development and into surrounding areas.

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

I just noticed that there doesn't appear to be a hotel planned. A bit odd for a large employment area. I'm a bit confused by their business model here. There are lots of good office proposals in various parts of downtown, and I can't see why tenants might prefer this location. Transit will be...

I think that the 2 million sf of retail refers to GFA, as apposed to leasable area. The comparison to Yorkdale mall in the front page story might be inappropriate if this is the case. It would mean that there is likely much less retail planned.

    Toronto East Harbour | 214.2m | 65s | Cadillac Fairview | Adamson

My only concern is whether this office development is integrated into the rest of the city. How convenient is it for employees to go to Leslieville after work? Or to Corktown for lunch? It looks like it might be isolated from surrounding neighborhoods.

Not much different from the existing hotel, apart from laundry. And remember that units in both residential buildings and in hotels are never full 24-7. Comparisons of peak hours would be the key here, which I think are the same: morning showers, lights on in evening, etc.
