I will answer my own question. Looks like the whole focus at the moment is uncovering the log road. More photos from the day coming soon.

What ever happened with the log road situation? Is the work on that segment of King still on hold?

The section between Hespeler Rd/Highway 24 and Highway *is* being widened. That is in progress right now. The rest of the 401 through Cambridge, east of Highway 24, will start when the current section is completed, starting around 2019.

Nice to see this committed to. Interesting that the 401 will be widened to 5 lanes through this section. Since it will also be widened to 5 lanes through Cambridge, and the terrain is relatively friendly between Cambridge and Highway 6, I wonder what the chances of the rest of that section being...

Anyone know enough about the plans to explain why it'll take to 2019 for this section to be completed? Since this ends east of the Credit River, I don't see what the big obstacles are. Mavis and Matheson are ready, 2nd Line is a small replacement.

Regardless, raising prices if the line is too crowded is easy to justify.

If that's true, the ironic thing is that the train will still be primarily used by those who can afford a premium service, but now it'll be those coming from the West to downtown via. Bloor station who'd rather not "suffer" on the TTC or GO the whole way.

Pretty well lines up with Crosstown completion. Quite a big shift in a short period of time.
