    Rob Ford's Toronto

She reminds me of Sarah Palin. *shudder*

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I'm pretty sure that both Bushes portrayed themselves as far more religious than they were, to capture the evangelical vote.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I've thought that from a few days after the switcheroo, when he kept putting off beginning to campaign. I quite possibly might be the most naive person in the thread, but I think he really is doing it for Rob, and he himself has little interest in municipal politics. I suppose we'll see in the...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

My dad had one in the early 90s with no anaesthesia, and described it as hellish. My mom had one about 15 years later, and was told they would do what they could for her, depending on who was available for anaesthesia. Turned out, they gave her one of those twilight drugs where she was...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

    This, exactly. Also: LOL!

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Aside from the pure evil, I've always believed he's overdone it with the botox. The only person I've ever seen who is less capable of making a facial expression is Nicole Kidman. Doug's is stuck in a permanent scowl.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

It looks like he strains just to smile like a real human being.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Wow. Glad the media is going there. This could be interesting.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

This is probably evil, but I would love to hear Leeanne's reaction to all this.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Thank you! I was beginning to question my reasoning abilities. Not saying that I am right, just that there is a lot that doesn't make rational sense.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I think he's probably telling what he thinks is the truth, but I also think that his version of the truth is tainted with a lot of bias and hyperbole. Just from my observations since all this craziness started. eta - also with maybe a bit of internet fame going to his head.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I hope you're right. We need more of him running our society. He reminds me of Jack Layton, in that his vision is infectious.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

I get that, but I still think it could have been done without faking possible cancer. That said, we're obviously not dealing with normal people, so who knows what their thought process was through all of this. Maybe drama and hoopla is their default setting. Thanks for your responses!

    Rob Ford's Toronto

YES. I think this is the only way we'll learn the truth.

    Rob Ford's Toronto

But that's my point - if they're doing this simply because they're afraid that Rob wouldn't win the mayoral race, but they want him to still have a place on council to keep his name out there and active in city politics, I think he could have done that fairly easily by dropping out of the...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

But to what end? If this is a created diversion for Rob to drop out of the mayor's race and register for councillor, why create all the hype to begin with, necessitating Doug to take attention away from Rob, why not just quietly give any old lame excuse for Rob to drop to councillor that Ford...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Ha! That's putting it mildly. ;)

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Things that don't make sense to me: why would Mikey be needed as a placeholder, when all they needed to do was register Rob before 2 pm today? The whole placeholder concept makes no sense. Also, why have Doug run? He clearly has no desire to be a politician, he is vastly disliked, he won't win...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

One thing I do know is that Doug is the last person I would believe, under any circumstance. I don't think anything EVER comes out of his mouth that isn't at worst a bald-faced lie, or at best, grossly hyperbolic. So if I were judging the situation solely on his words tonight, I don't think...

    Rob Ford's Toronto

Maybe it's about giving an ill man some hope, something to look forward to? I don't even know. I'm feeling more cynical than I was yesterday, but I haven't completely crossed over to full-on cynicism yet. There are just so many parts of this that don't make sense to me. Too many coincidences...
