    The Toronto Teaser!

It's a community health care organization catering to individuals with developmental disabilities. I worked at a Neurogenetics Lab there for two summers whilst in undergrad (even got a publication out of it). The interior used to be pretty dumpy but it was renovated 3 or 4 years ago. It's quite...

    Toronto ugliest highrise building

There used to be a trophy-engraving store at the base of that building (which was replaced by a computer repair store a few years back) that had a neon sign in the window reading "Tropies" (sic). My undergrad cronies and I always found it hilarious that something as relatively expensive and...

    Toronto ugliest highrise building

Are these the pomo office buildings down near the Harbourfront towers? I actually enjoy these quite a bit, and find their only weakness to be in their somewhat stubby massing. I think the graceful proportions they`d gain from an additional 20-storeys of height would make them visually prominent...

    Toronto Telus House - 25 York Street | 136.24m | 30s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

Sorry, so wait .... how many more storeys?

    Toronto Picasso Condos | 128.62m | 39s | Mattamy Homes | Teeple Architects

I went to see a seminar on "urban agriculture" at Isabel Bader theatre the other day, and Stephen Teeple was there putting in a plug for this building (as well as his other project on Queen East ... the name escapes me) and its various LEED features.

    Toronto Casa | 147.52m | 46s | Cresford | a—A

I don't know about that. Looks more like Bay and Bloor to me (or possibly a little bit south of that).

    HAMILTON Part XXVII: Hamilton Beach

    Beautiful shot!

    Our Streets - Front Street

You've got some great stuff there. I especially like the photos of eastern Front.

Food Building CNE; then and now.

I must admit that this is the first time I've seen a picture taken in Toronto from the 50s that featured more litter than a current photo.

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

Is it perchance because there is a stump (i.e. un-encased core) still protruding from the apex?

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

It's probably been mentioned before, but it's a shame they didn't keep the facade of the adjacent building with the blue panels. It would have continued the street wall quite nicely and made the facadectomy less apparent at street level.

    Yonge-Dundas Pedestrian Scramble Implementation

There's a scramble crossing in san diego somewhere along the main restaurant drag, and there was a newly-wed couple taking wedding photos in the middle of the intersection. It was amusing watching the bride run out into the intersection in her big, cumbersome dress whenever the cycle turned...

    1960s Toronto

Those buildings are very reminiscent of his handsome (and recently repainted) tower on Prince Arthur, except the "swoosh" element continues to sweep down to the ground, rather than arcing back towards the building, in turn giving it, in my opinion, a more graceful proportion.

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

    Neato. Thanks.

Bay Adelaide Centre West Tower (Brookfield, 50s, WZMH)

What's the building in the foreground here? It's quite spiffy.

    Toronto Bloor Street Neighbourhood Condos | ?m | 32s | Cresford | Northgrave

Some sort of small vegetarian eatery specializing in organic, Persian-inspired foods. Looks quite good, although I was a bit put off when the lady behind the counter assured me that each dish was "prepared with love"; I get a little uneasy by all that hippy-talk.

    Toronto 2 St Thomas | 80.46m | 26s | KingSett Capital | Hariri Pontarini

Huh? I thought that they were supposed to leave those two brick apartment blocks intact? What's going on here?

    Toronto 300 Front Street West | 156.05m | 49s | Tridel | Wallman Architects

Is that a bed in the party room? Curious. Now I can have a venue for my Roman-inspired orgies.

    Roads: Gardiner Expressway

With all this talk about barriers, I think what some people fail to consider (although Prometheus hinted at this several posts above) is not only the physical space that the Gardiner occupies, but the strips of land flanking it. Due to its function as a limited-acces expressway, surrounding...
