    Toronto 50 at Wellesley Station | 114.9m | 37s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Exactly. Don't tear down the existing building if you're not prepared to put something else in its place.

    Street Car vs. Bus

Of course if the bus was in the 70s, as most of the streetcar fleet was, it likely wouldn't have air conditioning either. I would also question whether the problem is the fact that the two routes you avoid use streetcars, or whether they are just on streets that have more congestion. I...

TCHC: 88-90 Carlton (12s, Stanford Downey)

I agree with you in principle, but in this case I find the facade easier on the eyes than the new structure. Of course that's not saying much. This one's pretty bland all around.

Good progress on the exterior, cladding is up on the east side:

    Toronto Bloor Street Revitalization | ?m | ?s | Bloor-Yorkville BIA | architectsAlliance

Agreed, you've just described all the reasons that I find this building very appealing. I especially enjoy the vertical lines, which seem to be a relative rarity 'round these parts.

    Beautifying Subway Entrances (TTC Report)

What's the timeline for this? I'm also curious about whether the new handicap-friendly turnstiles will need to be ripped out when the TTC finally gives in and agrees to implement Presto system-wide.

    Church-Wellesley Village

I think I remember hearing something along those lines when This Ain't the Rosedale Library moved to Kensington, but my Google-fu seems to be failing me.

Pride Toronto to bid for World Pride 2014

Very true. There's no doubt that our Pride is world-class as-is. It outclasses celebrations in much larger cities and has an unprecedented amount of government support (Diane Ablonczy scandal notwithstanding). I guess it couldn't hurt to host world pride, but has anybody actually heard of it...

    Church-Wellesley Village

I must have missed the news that Pizza Iolo is taking over the space occupied by Bigliardi's. This will be the fourth pizza joint in the village. Don't we have enough already? At the rate things are going in 15 years Church Street will be nothing but pizza places, shawarma places, banks and...

    Toronto Ïce Condominiums at York Centre | 234.07m | 67s | Lanterra | a—A

Just one of dozens of buildings that gave me Chicago-envy during my visit in August. Sigh.

    Church-Wellesley Village

I certainly agree that it can take a long time to built up a stable of strong friendships here. I moved here at age 23, white, and decently attractive and it still took me about a year. But shouldn't it take a while to build strong friendships? Friendship to me is serious business, and it takes...

I would post a reply to Cooool, but I think those that have replied already have hit all the right points. I think it's common for people coming from a homophobic environment to look down on those more openly sexual or flamboyant because they can look down on somebody more "deviant" than...

what do the toronto people do?

Mystic Point I think you really need to get a grip. I make significantly less than $60k, I pay $400 per month for student loans and I do just fine. I'm not sipping champagne and eating caviar every day and I don't spend much on furniture. But I spend a fair bit on clothing and entertainment...

    Mississauga City Centre (Downtown)

Sorry it was in print only. Most of the issue was devoted to remaking the 'burbs. If it was from some print giant or something I might not feel bad about scanning it, but Spacing barely breaks even, I'm sure. I looked here and it only lists a couple of locations in the 905. But I picked it up...

    Mississauga City Centre (Downtown)

The latest issue of spacing has a nice article about MCC. It actually sounded like the planners in Mississauga "get it" to some extent. Especially since they seem to realize that Square One is a huge impediment to building the urban downtown they envision.
