    Forum Changes Coming (Opinions Requested)

I found the tags here to be very useful in exactly that way until they were wiped out in the last UT outage a year or so ago.

    Forum Changes Coming (Opinions Requested)

My preference is also to keep the GTA together, which makes sense as it's a contiguous urban area. If we must shunt threads over to a subforum, then it should be those on projects in other urban areas of southern Ontario.

Star: TTC row ends in charges, lawsuit

What I find most disturbing is that if the driver was in fact choking the passenger, could no one on the bus intervene? Are we that meek now? We need to start employing some surly New Yorkers to use our system and enforce some civility around here. In my experience there, they don't...

    Mississauga (non-mall) Retail

Nice little place and a very welcome addition to the neighbourhood. The gelato is ok, but I enjoyed a great sandwich there the other day.

Toronto Cathedral/Church Preservation and Maintenance - Is Tourism the Answer?

Ironically, that criticism is usually levelled by the same people who decry the state of arts funding. I'm hard pressed to think of any other single institution that has consistently funded the arts and sciences globally for 2000 years.

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

Wow, in 2009 no less! He may love his city, but he doesn't understand it very well.

    miWay Transit

Why on earth would they do that when it's obvious to everyone the New Flyers are much better?? Order pooling with the TTC or something?

Mississauga Celebration Square Redevelopment (CS&P Architects) COMPLETE

Wow, no kidding! I live in the area and pass by city hall every morning and even I hadn't seen the fences until now.

Mississauga Celebration Square Redevelopment (CS&P Architects) COMPLETE

I must've missed it earlier, but a redesign of City Centre is almost as good as the civic square overhaul! Especially the treacherous portion east of Kariya Drive that curves around the Square One parkade.

If you could change one thing about Toronto, what would it be?

The whole swan boat local meme was neither funny nor clever in the first place, yet Munro and his fans continue to pat themselves on the back for it.

Onyx (MCC, Davies Smith, 35s, Quadrangle/Raw)

I was in on opening day and it's a nice little place with everything from breakfast to gelato. Great addition to the neighbourhood and hopefully it's a sign of things to come for MCC as a whole.

Another useless Apple vs PC thread

I'm saying it's 100% better to the people who prefer it and you can only buy BMWs from BMW. If OS X looked and behaved like a frumpy install of Windows XP even with its superior engineering under the hood, you're absolutely right that it will have lost much of its appeal. When I say Macs are...

    Restaurant Comings & Goings

Agreed and that's worrying news. U-Sector will be back in full force every weekend following the TFC season, so hopefully that'll help.

Another useless Apple vs PC thread

Look, if you think BMWs are a waste of money and you're perfectly happy driving your Ford from point A to B, then great. But don't assume that others only buy luxury cars to be fashionable. Many people appreciate things that are well-designed and computers are no exception. There's nothing...

    More Lost Toronto in colour

Wow, thanks for posting those! AGO 1960: "Soviet Painting"?? :) Must be an exhibit.

Another useless Apple vs PC thread

As a software developer who puts his Mac mini to heavy duty use, I can say it's far from underpowered, especially with OS X on it. Spec comparisons are meaningless without taking the operating system into account. If anything, Windows machines need to be overpowered due to poor software...

    Toronto Ontario Line 3 | ?m | ?s

As for Giambrone, he should go back to doing whatever it is he's qualified to do. Must all our multi-billion dollar technical infrastructure projects be directed by dilettantes?
