I don't think it is just about heritage...Why do we have to destroy an entire block of Restaurants, theatres, offices, bars, etc??? When do we rename the entertainment district to something more appropriate? In 10 years there will not be any entertainment there. What a joke...

When Yonge is filled with 60 Floor condos with a Starbucks, a dry cleaner, and a bank branch at the base, what will be the reason for anyone to walk down Yonge? Tourists will have no interest...even people living in the area will need to travel outside of the area for any kind of excitement...

I am not convinced...I predict bank branches, Dry Cleaners, and Convenience stores. Oh and can't forget a Starbucks on every corner.

We may end up with more "supper clubs" as we are seeing on King West and Liberty village. Restaurants which turn into nightclubs after 10pm. I would love to see a few big nightclubs remain, but the supper club / lounge concept is better than a Rabba, Dry cleaner, and starbucks on every corner.

This is what I have been saying for years...The "entertainment district" will be a place where all the neighbors look at each other from their balconies 20 feet across from each other and ask each other what there is to do besides go to the Starbucks at street level...Perhaps they will get in...
