    Toronto 159SW Condos | 118.87m | 36s | Alterra | Richmond Architects

That grey spandrel at street level is horrible! Why would they do that?

That church brings on flashbacks of a nun slapping me out there. My first and last day at Catholic nursery school. (true story)

EXACTLY. Just because we need more housing, doesn't mean we have to degrade the city with ugly, generic, grey boxes. We can build new housing that doesn't consist of ugly, generic, spandrel disasters.

    Toronto 5400 Yonge | 106.82m | 32s | Fieldgate | Kirkor Architects

Another retail strip with a generic wall of glass, which I hate.

    Toronto Eighty One Wellesley | 97.53m | 28s | Aragon Properties | Core Architects

This building completely dominates the Gay Village. I'm thankful that at least it won't be grey. That would have been horrible. [for me] Can I just point out how completely misleading the rendering of this building is. It makes the building look half the length it actually is. [north to south]

    Toronto 66 Wellesley Street East | 101.78m | 31s | ONE Properties | S9

I'm so glad this is not going to be built.

    Toronto 4800 Yonge Street | 168.24m | 49s | Menkes | Arquitectonica

In my books, that's not so bad. ;-p I appreciate the distinctive look of this building, I just dislike the podium, especially that wall of glass at street level.

    Toronto Aquabella at Bayside | 50.9m | 14s | Tridel | 3XN

At 9∶05 in the video you will get a few clips of Aquabella. [as well as a bit of the retail at Aqualuna around 8∶12]

    Toronto June Callwood Park | ?m | ?s | City of Toronto | gh3

I don't see this as fixing the problems here or making it a place people want to be in.

White is so much nicer than grey, especially on the waterfront. Just compare this building to the one west of it. That burst of white makes the area feel brighter and so much more enjoyable, for me. And I know I'm not the only one affected by colour and light. I hope they get some great retail...

    Toronto Concord Sky | 299m | 85s | Concord Adex | Kohn Pedersen Fox

Hey @interchange, can you get them to do something about all the ugly, grey spandrel too. From your mouth to the development god's ears. ;-p

Jasonzed - Jason Zytynsky Tribute and Photography Award

This is very sad and shocking news. Jason and his contributions to this site, will be very much missed.

    Toronto CIBC SQUARE | 241.39m | 50s | Hines | WilkinsonEyre

At around the 6 minute mark in this video you can see work being done on the seating and landscaping of CIBC Square.

I love those huge, wooden benches.

    Toronto in.DE Dundas East & Jarvis Condominiums | 65.53m | 21s | Menkes | Turner Fleischer

This is one of the worst new towers in the city but at street level, it is one of the better ones. First of all, thankfully, this tower does not have the generic, ubiquitous wall of glass and it actually has some contrasting materials to clearly separate the storefronts and entrances. The use of...

    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

I'm so glad that we are not getting retail that is just one, long wall of glass in this development. It will be nice to have indicators of where one shop ends and another begins. I hope this village becomes a major shopping/dining/leisure destination.

    Toronto Parliament Slip | ?m | ?s | Waterfront Toronto | West 8

It's nice to finally see some sort of attraction that both Torontonians and tourists can enjoy. A central waterfront is too important to just be used for condos and office space, which can go anywhere in the city. This is a good start but I would like to see much more, including entertainment...

    Toronto 175 St Clair West | 55.7m | 14s | Resident | Richard Wengle

Yes, this needs to be lined with retail since it's on a major street that already has a retail focus.
