Why was it turned off? Was it bothering the residents or something?

I'm confused about the heights here. The database lists it as 254m, 238m, 210m, but the docs clearly show 254m, 216m, 175m to the top of mechanical?

    Toronto 80 Bloor Street West | 263.4m | 78s | Krugarand | Arcadis

Says the city planner and councillor at the community consultation (I am paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it). Don't get me wrong, I would love to see this built.

It doesn't matter. Even if this is a real proposal, it has a 0% chance of getting approval.

What happened to the zoning amendment they applied for a year ago? Was it ever approved?

And why do we continue to fill our parks with trees if shadows are so toxic?

The good news is that based on the demographics at the meeting, I expect most of these people will be "replaced" fairly soon.

Actually they did offer a few suggestions to that: "farther south", "along the waterfront", or basically, anywhere that's Not In My BackYard!

Watching this community consultation was simultaneously hilarious and profoundly depressing. Both city planning and the community have made it clear that they are strongly opposed to the development. First of all, they're saying it does cast a non-zero shadow on the sacred lands of Jesse...

Perhaps the anchor tenant didn't want the colours?

This thread must be setting a UT record for greatest number of irrelevant bumps. Keep it up guys!

They ruled it out in the Entertainment District because the developer was able to demonstrate that nearby approved towers (particularly the Well) had already breached the clothesline, and it therefore wasn't in effect. Nothing around Yonge & Bloor has breached The One's clothesline yet, so could...

    Toronto 80 Bloor Street West | 263.4m | 78s | Krugarand | Arcadis

My biggest fear with this proposal is that the City will not be very receptive to this height at this location. Surely it will cast some shadows on Jesse Ketchum. And what about the clothesline policy? Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the original 224m proposal was deemed "too tall" because...

It looks too good to be true, so it probably is.

Then you need to see it after dark. Underwhelming is the last word I would use to describe it.

David Pecaut Square is protected from shadows now too? This shadow neuroticism is getting out of hand...

Incremental shadow on what? There is no sacred parkland for miles from this site. Is 160 Front now protected from shadow impacts too? I mean, I'm glad that shadows don't seem to be a deal-breaker, but I'm appalled that it's even mentioned.
