    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

yesterday afternoon. Since this, they've tore down most of the house on the end (east side of Markham St).

    Toronto U of T: Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship | ?m | 8s | U of T | Montgomery Sisam

I agree that it would have been nice to taper the eastern edge of this new building to step it back from Kings College Circle. However, I personally love the Med Sci building for its interesting facade. I like architectural variety on a university campus, and believe that the best campus is...

    Toronto 245 Queen Street East | 94.3m | 25s | ONE Properties | Graziani + Corazza

I love the idea of the glass covered arcade for this development, and hope that it is designed to interface well with the new park. They will want to make it not only an attractive shopping corridor, but also a nice place to walk through. However, the large footprint retail that often dominate...

    Toronto Wellesley Parliament Square | 151.07m | 47s | Greatwise | IBI Group

Lots of exciting possibilities for this area. St James town is an important ethnic receiving area, and there are a lot of great programs aimed at helping residents gain job skills. Missing is weather protected places to walk and socialize, and affordable retail spaces to rent. A lot of the...

    Toronto 309 Cherry Street | 162.2m | 49s | Castlepoint Numa | SvN

Here are some images from the Sept 2017 Precinct Plan. This parcel appears to be the pink-shaded privately owned in the bottom map, and it looks like they are trying to set a precedent of roughly twice the height envisioned. I understand the tactics, and maybe a single tall tower within this...

    Toronto U of T: Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship | ?m | 8s | U of T | Montgomery Sisam

This building looks better than the renders because of quality materials, while most condos in Toronto look worse because of cheaper substitutions for the optimistic artist impression.

I've always watched construction sites, and my favorite book as a young child, and my young son's favorite book, are both about construction! https://100bookseverychildshouldreadbeforegrowingup.com/tag/the-little-house/

About 3pm today. This entire site was mesmerizing to watch. I stayed for about 20 minutes, and counted 7 active excavators scooping giant mounds of mud into one dump truck after another. There were also machines with pneumatic tips breaking rocks into pieces, and numerous tractors pushing...

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

From today. I don't know how new this is, but I don't remember these planters. There are some improvements here. The wood does help soften the brutal concrete expanse, and hopefully flowers will grow here and these planters will be maintained. However, I think they could have designed these...

    Toronto Clare R. Copeland Transformer Station | ?m | ?s | Toronto Hydro | Arcadis

Photos from this afternoon. Since they are calling this the "highline", it would be cool to extend the path south over Lake Shore and under the Gardiner, terminating at a new multiuse development on the empty parking lots at Queens Quay. On the west side of Rees St, could the pumping station...

    Toronto Mirvish Village (Honest Ed's Redevelopment) | 85.04m | 26s | Westbank | Henriquez Partners

From this afternoon -- they seem to be flattening the area along Bloor, and I've noticed dump trucks dropping off material (rather than removing). The exterior wall on the end house on Markham (east side) has been removed, revealing ugly yellow insulation. I've also noticed that a bunch of...

    Baby, we got a bubble!?

This piece from the Financial Times does a good job reviewing some of the main influences on Toronto's market since 2009. https://worldinstruggle.blogspot.ca/2018/03/financial-crash-made-our-cities.html?view=sidebar

    Toronto U of T: Landscape of Landmark Quality | ?m | 1s | U of T | MVVA

sadly, the webpage from two pages back with the competing proposals is dead -- https://landmark.utoronto.ca/design-competition/all-entries/ Does anyone have a weblink where the entries can still be viewed? U of T can be frustratingly opaque, and generally is not welcoming of criticism. I'm...

    Toronto Artistry Condos | 103.5m | 29s | Tribute | Graziani + Corazza

I took a walk around the area yesterday. I would love to see a nice pocket park here that would also showcase the church to the north, but the building as proposed would be massive for this site. Here are a few photos --

question to the wise -- is it reasonable to assume that new rental buildings like this would be built with better quality, longer lasting, and lower maintenance materials given that the customer is more sophisticated in demanding that than your typical condo buyer?
